Well, maybe not the jackpot . . . but this is the first time I've seen .22 LR in a long time!

25 rounds for $1.99, limit two per customer and kept behind the counter at my local general store. I laughed, thought "what the heck?" and bought some after shooting the breeze for a while with a friend who works there.

Happy shooting.

LOL Welcome to the Third World America! How stupid, lazy, and suicidal could we possibly be...

At the bodega they'll call them "loosies."

Haha. Well, to be fair, this is a General store in rural central Maine and has a decent shooting supplies section and ammo cabinet. My friend who works there explained to me that the owner happened to find a couple of bulk packs and bought them and divided them up to sell so not one person would come in and buy it all (and also to make a little money on top of what he paid, of course).

Given stories that all one can find on-line are various Eley target grade ammos at $12 to $18 a box of 50 (36 cents a round), finding 25 round baggies of .22lr at $1.95 (8 cents a round) is fantasic.

$4 per 50 round box isn't too far off what I'm seeing it sell for. At least the guy has a little around and is trying to keep it from all being bought by one hoarder.

I just picked up a 400rd brick of American eagle 22 hollow points for $28 at a small mom and pop store in Utah. One brick per customer I'm sure it's all gone by now.

What are they? They look like Federal Champion/Lightning but I can't make out any headstamps.

So let me get this right. I can take small bags and put boolits in them. Then can I take them to Maine and sell them out of the back of my truck? Sounds good to me and I really enjoy Maine. I could sell my boolits, then buy lobsters, put them on ice and take them back to Cleveland and sell the lobsters for an even greater profit. God, I love this country.

Actually based on what I have seen the price while high isn't all that bad. :)

$4 a box of 50 isn't a stupid price when the best price is $7/50+shipping.

Whoa, I never said the price was stupid. In fact, I think it's pretty reasonable and I was just happy to find some! I can't remember the last time I saw .22 on the shelves!

I'd have to disagree on that statement...I just received this shipment last week.

Eley Target .22lr Ammunition Box of 50
29-02-A03190
$5.28
Ordered: 100
Shipped: 100

I was able to get five boxes of 50rd. Federal Target for $3 a box a week ago. Not a bad price considering that is what it was going for last year.

Our friends across the pond in Birmingham, England make a pretty wide range of .22 rimfire ammunition. The prices range from inexpensive good target quality ammunition (Eley Sport) to holy crap I can't believe it cost that much (Eley Tenex). So when a reference is made to Eley .22 ammunition we really need to mention which flavor as 357Shooter did including the Eley part number.

Eley also manufactures ammunition and labels it for US Manufacturers like Remington for example who markets Remington Target Rifle manufactured by Eley LTD, Birmingham England.

Nice score 357Shooter, when I have seen that flavor it runs about $6 a box.

How sad this .22 situation has become. Fortunately, I have a lot stashed away, but I'm almost afraid to shoot any! Even though two USGI .30 cal. ammo cans will hold a helluva lot of loose .22's......I don't know if I'd ever be able to replace them.

LOL.....

I also hit the jackpot, sort of.

I am currently out of the country, and my wife had gone to a gun show to try out some holsters. So she sends me an email saying she found me some 22lr. Im like :D

till she sends me what she picked up... Ive been shooting for close to 40yrs and never seen the green stuff. so I was  then :eek::banghead::banghead:when she told me how much she paid for this loot....:fire: Needless to say the only one who hit the jackpot was the dealer....
