Majority is 'NO' right now, let's turn it around!

Geez. A poll about this?

The way it is worded...

Should people be allowed to bring guns to an Obama event?

And the poll results are divided up amongst the states. The national map there might end up looking like an election map.

What's interesting is that the states where the 'Yes' is leading, are red in color. Others are yellow.

Reading the comments, I'm seeing all sorts of asshattery. One poster uses ethnic population percentages to determine that largely armed states are also the "least free".
Now, call me weird, but I'm not really of the opinion that skin color matters unless you really want it to. Seems like the aforementioned poster is just itching to find an excuse, and if it takes an ethnically insensitive remark (which it is), then so be it.

It's kinda telling, the sort of moronic posts ya see in places like that. Folks who never really had an honest thought about a subject merely regurgitating what they've been told by their favorite "source".

Naturally, he'll just throw up his magic forcefield, and all the (non official) firearms will turn into ice cream and welfare checks!
Oh, HAPPY DAY!

The poll is based state to state so it would be hard to affect it over all unless we select one state to vote in . Alaska is close to a 50/50 split.

The poll is to vauge, does this mean an event at wich the president will appear or are they referring to current town hall meeting at which senators are touting the presisents healthcare reform?

That's the problem, the question is so loaded, they can jump to all kinds of conclusions in regards to those who vote 'Yes'.

The Dakotas have very few votes each. Their results could be altered quickly.

People - This is your right...one that thousands of people have died over the last 200+ years. Its not a question of if its right or wrong, its a right to be exercised by all including the president himself if you or he choose to do so. He took the oath to uphold, protect and defend that constitutional right that you can exercise. Have we become so politically correct that we have lowered our standards and now argue the finer points of whether or not a inherent right is right or wrong? Of course it was right...everyone in the audiance should be packing including the prez. I can't believe what I am hearing these days.

From the poorly worded poll question, these current results would be reported as...

A recent survey indicated that 28% of Americans would want
a gun in hand if President Obama were to visit their area.

or

Polls show that 28% of Americans would bring a gun, if attending
an event where President Obama would be present.

Uh, No. People should not carry guns to events where the president is going to be speaking. Not me, not you, not nobody but the police/secret service.

I don't carry in order to intimidate a person who may pose a threat to my personal safety, nor would I think that open carrying a firearm should be used to remind my government officials to fear me.

It's a lousy way to make a political statement.

It's a lousy way to make a political statement.
Agreed. Yet it is an excellent method of personal protection.

I can think of a lot of places that are much safer than a protest rally.

I think everyone in favor of carrying to an event where the president or a past president is in attendance should do so openly. The federal prison system needs more charges. Be sure and let us all know how it turns out for you, I've seen video of how it worked for Squeaky Fromme.

The Secret Service has a big enough job looking for hidden threats without having a bunch of people show up with their weapons visible. There is no way to know everyone's intentions, and one bad apple in the crowd is all it takes. Presidents have a nasty tendency to get shot. It subverts our political process when an assassin decides to engage in regime change.

I do not believe people should carry guns at political debates. All we need is to have a wacko shoot someone at such a meeting. That would give the antis something to really use against legitimate gun owners. Come on people....Think !!! I would have tossed the guy in jail.............

I'd love to meet this idiot face to face---- RAY: You forget, that none of these gun-toting morons would ever place their own lives in jepordy. Parading around with a gun strapped on when you know others are unarmed is one thing. Bring your gutless azz to Chicago or Detroit, and you'll have your 2nd amendment rights shoved up your narrow azz.---- Nice comment since 99.99% of the guns in either city are most likely stolen and in the hand of low life scum.

Uh, No. People should not carry guns to events where the president is going to be speaking. Not me, not you, not nobody but the police/secret service.

If nobody has a gun, what does the police and SS need to be armed for?

A MP5 is going to do very little to a Kamikaze airplane, or a suicide bomber shaking hands with the prez. when he decides to pull the cord.

For me it comes down to state laws. If it's legal, why not. If it's illegal as Georgia is, then no, don't carry. But we should have the right to make that choice ourself, and not have the state make that decision for us.
