hello,
Just received my HK Days $200 rebate from my P30L purchase in November.
I sold off a P99AS to pick up the P30L. Having had a PPQ, P99, and TP-9 I feel I can make some comments comparing the guns.
The P30 has very aggressive grip texture. The P99 texture is meh-nothing exciting. The PPQ is perfection. It is not sharp, but does have enough texture to keep it in place. I think the PPQ wins here. Walther.
The sights are about equal between the Walther and HK. The HK are luminescent glow in the darks. They do glow bright. HK.
I prefer the Walther mag release. The HK is shorter and takes some effort where as the Walther is long. The extra length of the Walther makes mag changes effortless. Walther.
The take down of the Walther wins. The P30 requires holding the slide back to pop the mag release lever, though the lever does not come out. Odd...but it is nice you can do it cocked or decocked. Walther.
The decocker on the HK wins. Though it is in a weird place, I do kinda like it more because it takes a lot less effort. I have found the P99 decocker to be very stifff. Total personal opinion. HK.
Comfort of the grip...I say they are exactly tie. I personally feel there is no difference between the PPQ and the P30. The P99 is different since it has smooth sides. The P99 is thinner around though. Tie.
HK mags win for a very simple reason. Walther mags have a rather sharp lip that the HK mags do not. HK.
Trigger...I feel the P99 might just have the most excellent trigger on the market. I can say this after owning guns from all the major companies. The P30 DA stacks a bit at the end. The HK SA is better than the Walther however--it is totally smooth and light. However, the reset is LONG. While I don't know if I feel the PPQ/P99 reset is necessary, the P30 SA reset is about as long as a DA trigger. Walther
Length...I wish to goodness the P99 would come out in a five inch barrel. I know the PPQ does, but only in the M2 push button release. No thanks. Love the length of the P30L. HK.
In conclusion, I put the P30L up on the local board. I will probably pick up a P99 AS again soon. I do wish it was not as flippy, but there is simply no beating the Walther trigger in the P99 or the PPQ.
