Hello,

Is there anything the HK P30L in 9mm do well?

Cons:
Slide release rattles, not snug like a PPQ
Slide is thick
grip texture is harsh on skin and wears down quickly
trigger: Hard DA, long reset...

Positives:
changeable side straps
4.4 barrel
...

Sounds like it'd make a great police sidearm rather than a civvie carry gun... oh, I guess it is!

I was at a Gander Mountain and was looking for a PPQ M2 and I liked it but didn't love it. Still haven't gotten to the point where I really like a plastic gun. I am a CZ 75b fan if that gives you a hint. But the sales guy laughed when I told him I was alergic to plastic and he said he had just the thing for me.......and pulled out a P30L. I LOVE that gun! Solid, rattle free, fantastic grips that don't feel slippery and a good looking gun too. It felt solid like a tank, the way I like them. Haven't bought one yet but it is on my list.

They are durable, reliable, accurate, and ergonomic. All are winning attributes for a duty sized 9MM.

This ^^^^ and the P30L is relatively light at 27 ounces. Also comes with changeable backstraps and palm swells. As far as durability supposedly every single part, including springs, in the HK P30 (and other HKs) is engineered to last at least 20,000 rounds.

I have a P30LS in 9MM. Very sweet and soft shooter. The trigger on mine is really nice after about 500 rounds with a real crisp SA trigger pull. I changed the hammer spring to the Wolf 10 lb hammer spring (took about 3 minutes) and the DA is sweet now also.

It also CCW very comfortably for me in my Aliengear 2.0 IWB holder using my Beltman belt. No rattle on mine at all. The P30LS comes with the smaller slide release. I like that the safety can be used with hammer up or down and also has separate decocker.

My favorite hammer fired metal frame pistols are SIGs and HK for poly frame hammer fired. I have yet to have a single issue through several thousand rounds fired with any of my SIGs or HKs. I also own a Walther PPQ and HK VP9 and both those have been flawless also.

The only problem I have with mine is that it is very accurate and very reliable. Other than that I like it a lot.

I prefer the standard P30, have two of them with the V1 light LEM trigger. I know the CZ fanboys will disagree, but I consider the P30 the finest 9mm you can buy.

I have read the long slide has a problem with non hot ammo? Is this a true issue? Does it persist or just during break in?

P30L holds the record for the shortest ownership time period in my decades of shooting. I bought it on the ergonomics but couldn't get past the trigger.

Along comes the VP9 and she is a keeper

Some seem to experience a problem during the first couple hundred rounds of ammo though most do not. Maybe it could be a combination of weak ammo and less than firm grip for some. The Federal Champion 115GR 9MM at Walmart is about as weak a 9MM round you can buy.

I did not experience any with mine and never have had a single issue with it.

The P30 and P30L will be eligible for the HK $200 rebate starting Nov1 and then through the end of a year. Great time for anyone thinking of buying a P30/P30L to get one.
