This is the follower on the Hk P2000. I don't have an exact round count though possibly in the 2K range. I looked at the magazines on some of my other 9mm's and they exhibit similar to some degree though most are faint even with much more rounds on them.

Has me concluding that HK followers are pretty soft plastic. :( How long do these followers last before I'll see a feed malfunction? So that I have an idea of follower life and to stock up.

I’ve noticed the same on my HKs. The followers seem to get chewed up faster than I’d like, and given the typical cost of magazines, it’s irritating. I don’t have any that look quite that bad though. I’ve never had a malfunction of any kind. This is only a guess but if follower wear was an issue causing malfunctions I’m guessing we’d hear more about it by now. I’m guessing you’ve got many thousands of rounds left on those. I don’t think I’d be worried until a malfunction occurs on the range, but perhaps use a newer one if you use it for defense.

Replacement followers are on my list of parts to order for all my guns.

Well, see, the problem is the way you loaded them. HK shows how it's done to avoid that damage:

Boy they’re never going to live that one down.

Was browsing the Glock forums and there are threads about similar follower wear with the 9mm's. I'll buy a few followers to have on hand and attempt to keep a round count for reference. The prices on HK mags are :( Nice that Wolff has mag springs available.

Wasn't as active back when that catalog came out. For any HK staff that was part of that photo shoot and art director, they had their head elsewhere.

I've yet to have a feed malfunction in any of my HKs. I've yet to have any malfunction for that matter after many thousands of rounds in similar models, (P2000 and USPs). I'd keep an eye on the followers but I doubt you have to worry.

I have a 16k round count mag and a 12k round count mag (both #s are rough estimates, but accurate enough) that have followers that look exactly like that... still... after 10 years of shooting them. HK's mag followers seem to me to take a "set" early on and don't wear any further.

Good to know!

That was a good read on the HK catalog, thanks!
