Ok, here's what i've come up with so far. I selected guns on the following characteristics:

-9mm
-Capable of eating +P+ all day
-Weight of 1.5lbs or less
-Preban or hopefully post-post ban magazine capacity of over 10 rounds
-Not what you would traditionally call a DAO (capable of a short reset 5.5lb trigger pull)
-Easily concealable dimensions
-No need to use manual safeties.

Here's what i've come up with in no particular order:

-Glock 26: Sure it's ugly, but it is all of the above and has an excellent reputation for quality and safety.
-Steyr S9: Some concern over the safety of this gun has been brought to my attention, but it's supposedly incredibly accurate, low-recoiling and has a great trigger. It is kinda rare though
-Springfeild XD Sub-Compact: It's the Croation Glock. I like the Grip Safety. It managed to be uglier than the glock (in it's subcompact form).
-HK P2000 Subcompact: Ok, it's not available in the states yet, but i won't be carrying for another 2 years anyway. It's an HK and i've never shot an HK and been dissapointed. As far as i'm concerned, the best reputation and quality...oh, and highest price.

What would you get or do you have another suggestion to add to the list?

Aw shoot. I voted HK, but then saw the "other" category.

So, I'd choose a Walther P99c (compact). Three trigger options. Not out yet but there's a few threads on it if you do a search. The HK would be my second choice.

I voted for the Glock 26. It's rugged, accurate and can take high cap pre ban magazines from the larger 9mm Glocks.

I voted Glock26, but since you have two years until you are going to carry. The Walther P99 Compact that was announced could me another good option. It's hard to say until you wear them, a certain one might poke you in a certain way, or the grip might not fit your hand at all. The adjustable grip size of the Walther and HK would work well then. But for overall "it will work" I voted for the Glock. Kahrs are nice, but no hi-caps.

Hard to beat the Glock 26 in the categories you mentioned. They take G17 and G19 magazines, parts and accessories are readily available, and they have a proven track record.

Other. A CZ PCR is my carry weapon for the times when I can't carry something heavier. Light alloy framed, da/sa with decocker, cheap (under $20 ) 14 round mags available, very reliable, great ergonomics. What's not to like?

My first suggestion would be something like the Kahr TP9 (missing two rounds) with Novak sights. Very slim, very consistant trigger.

Out of those listed, I'd probably go with the G26 and a Ghost Rocket connector. Shortens the reset and lightens the trigger pull just a bit.

But the TP9 is definately slimmer, weighs one or two ounces less and has a longer barrel as well... I'd go for the Kahr, but I'd feel very well armed with either one.

:)

Beretta 9000s----takes 92 hi-caps----and is a true double/single action----can be carried cocked and locked ----has a frame mounted safety/decocker.

Main complaints are hard to grab slide and a thick grip---but neither are all that bad.

I own one---but its a .40.

I've carried a Kel-Tec P-11, a Star Firestar Plus (alloy frame) and now carry a CZ-75B Compact (similar to the PCR mentioned earlier). All three are good guns that I like better than some of the choices offered.

I'd say the Glock 26 fits your critera best, but you might want to consider the Glock 19 as well.

I voted "other" you jut described a CZ PCR or P-01. Even the new RAMI if you want to use mags that sick out a little.

The Steyer S series is nice, I just couldn't get past the "safety inside the trigger guard". :scrutiny:
