Am considering a deal on an Hk P2000. .40
Not familiar much with the Hk's, care to comment?

Gave up on the M&P (lack of history)
Gave up on the XD (not sure why)

thanks.

Top of the line !!! You don't hear too many talking about problems with their HKs.

I do not own a p2000 but owns a uspc in 9mm... Now let's just say that gun hasn't jam on me even once with the 4 months or so of ownership. I've been carrying it even since the first range trip with it as well. Its so nice that you can count on it to go bang everytime you press that little trigger.:p

P2000

If you can get a good deal - ( i think around $600 with all the backstraps is pretty decent) I would say go for it. I recently sold a P2000 and miss it already - It was in 9mm and I am slowly trying to phase out of the 9mm - In my opinion the P2000 is a perfect CCW. Its small, light, easy to conceal, easy to use (ambi mag release and slide release) and better yet you can adjust it to your hands with the interchangable backstraps - Honestly its got just about everything you could ask for in a rather small package - and mine was as accurrate as some of my more expensive guns - if not more. This gun honestly is one of the easiest to carry all day long - i used a cheap fobus holster for it and 8-12hrs was not a problem - im sure it would have been even better in a better carry rig - Even the sharp edges have been smoothed so you dont have the normal pinching or poking you get from some other guns - I really liked the adjustable grip and I had an LEM trigger on it - thats a nice feature if you can get it on your P2000 - Also the mags are interchangeable with the USP Compact guns - I have never used the P2000 in .40 but had a co-worker who used it as his duty gun and he really liked it - i had a P2000 mini in .40 for awhile and that was an easy gun to use as well - I honestly think you can't go wrong with a P2000 - I used to carry the USP's daily as a duty gun and can say from experience that the HK line of pistols is very dependable. I would have no problem pickin up another P2000 and in fact plan to get one in .40 when the checkbook (and the boss/wife) says to go ahead - dont let the negative talk of HK get you down - i have never had any problems with any of their products and plan to keep depending on them in the future.
Just my opinion -

***if you have any more specific questions about this gun you can drop me a pm and ill see what i can do to help ya out.

I haven't had a chance to shoot one of the new M&Ps and I'm not a XD fan - Plus, I'm a huge HK fan...that said....GET THE P2000 and alot of ammo ;)

WOW! I think that was the first time I've heard anyone voice a concern that a HK poly-gun was "too small" :neener:

I have both the HK P2000 and HK P2000sk in .40 S&W with LEM triggers. They are excellent weapons.

Copper4262 basically summed it up for you. The gun is an excellent firearm and it will work when you need it to. THe gun is very user friendly and you can easily change the grip to fit your hand better.

The guns come with a lifetime warranty as well.

I paid $700 for my P2000 with 3 mags and night sights from Clyde Armory.

I paid $730 for my P2000sk with 3 mags and night sights from Ordnance outsellers. Either way you cannot go wrong with HK.

Check out www.hkpro.com for more information.

I own a number of HK handguns, but the P2000 is probably my favorite. It's also the gun that's most likely to save my life, since I carry it more than any of my other pistols. 100% reliable and scary-accurate.

Another +1 for the P2000 SK (.40) with LEM trigger. Light, comfortable to grip, accurate, easy break down, easily concealable. It has become my #1 CCW behind my Kimber Compact.

I have P2000 .40 V3 (conventional DA/SA).

It's an utterly boring gun. There is not a thing you could do to make it more accurate, more reliable, more ergonomic. No upgrades, no replacements, no lively discussions in dedicated communities about best modifications, etc. Well, you can buy a drop-in .357 Sig barrel and install the tritium sights. But that's it.

With this gun, you can only shoot what and when you need it. As a conversation piece, it is pretty-much worthless.

I found it to be very average and uninspiring. The trigger on the one I tested was pretty sorry. If you opt for one, look for an LEM version.
You can get pistols at a similar level of quality for less money... but some guys have to have the HK logo. All fairness it is not a bad pistol by any means... its just that others are just as good, if not better.

I have heard that many people like the P2000, but most prefer the LEM trigger. I cant comment personally as I have a USP, and I will swear by my HK, but I carry in condition one and love my USP trigger decocked or condition 1...find out more about the P2000 trigger before you do the trade, its a love hate sort of thing. The USP is much more forgiving IMO because of the SA/DA options.

My duty gun is a P2000 .40 LEM(I AM lucky). While I like the trigger reset on my USPcLEM better, I really like the P2000. You won't go wrong. :D

I carry a P 2K part of the time and may switch to it when my Wild Bill No Such Agency IWB comes in. It is light and the LEM trigger is really easy to use and keep the gun on target. Mine is in 9mm and puts the Ranger +p load in a tiny group. My problem I that I have grown to like the 357 Sig round so I will probably get a P2K in that caliber.

I have the P2000 .40 & an XD 45acp. They are both excellent. I chose the P2000 because its ergonomics-with the small backstrap, it fits my hand perfectly. Neither the P2000s nor the XDs are easy concealed carries, imho. I'm thin & do not like to wear a lot of bulky clothing. The XD 45acp I have shoots every bit as well as the HK & its ergonomics are perfect. I don't see how you can go wrong with either the P2000 or the XD.

Tell that to some people who drop $800 on some brick jamomatic just to have the 1911 on the slide :D I just don't understand the idea of "custom" gun, where everyone else can have the same thing as yours. What's so custom about that? After dropping that much money, it still doesn't work right. I know, I got suckered into a couple myself. But don't take my word for it, read the forum! :)

For that $800, you could have a ultra reliable combat grade weapon.
Go buy it already. When you need a gun that you can depend your life on it, this is it, there's no other.
