With the new HK P30 .40S&W due out in October, I'm unsure as to which option to go for.

The 9mm/.40S&W and the standard DA/SA or the LEM. It doesn't matter what your reasons are - ammo price, shootability, round count - take your pick as they will all factor in to my requirements.

I'd appreciate your vote in the poll, it really will help me decide.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a traditionalist, I suppose, and like the DA/SA with the option of cocked and locked carry, though HK's LEM trigger isn't bad. I'd take it in 9mm, but that's because I currently have a big enough stable of assorted calibers to keep up with -- obviously not a deal breaker on 40S&W for everyone.

Unless HK has added something new to the mix, any of their lockwork options will allow for a second strike on a round that does not fire, though I don't find that to be a selling point (I've never had a round that did not go bang the first time go bang the second time -- a tap-rack-bang drill is a much better idea).

I haven't shot the LEM, but the DA/SA mode allows me to also shoot SA.

I must say, this is a very nice handgun.

cocked and locked carry

I would not recommend this with a gun that has no "lock" (manual safety).

I like my P2K in 9mm DA/SA, but I'm not going to vote in your poll; I bought my gun to suit my preferences, and you need to do the same with your needs/wants.

I would lean more towards DA/SA in 9mm b/c it what I have had the most trigger time using. I had a chance to shoot the LEM and is quite nice but still needs the trigger time to make a better, more informed decision.

I own two P30s, both V3 and a P30L V3 on order. Yes, I like the P30!

Nice, but not everyone else knows what V3 is ---DA/SA

I have also been thinking about a P30L.

I have the V2 (heavy LEM trigger, around 8lbs or so). I've been shooting HK USPc's with the light LEM trigger and was worried I wouldn't like the heavier version. It works just fine. I maybe get the trigger return spring changed to the lighter trigger pull to bring it down to 4.5-ish lbs, but for now, it suits my needs.

I "grew up" on Glocks and other SA/DOA/Striker Fired pistols that have the same trigger pull each time and don't want to screw with the DA/SA transition. Yes I know it is not really that big of a deal, but all my pistols have a consistent type of trigger (even if my 1911 is MUCH nicer than the rest!)

I have come to appreciate the decocker on the P30. It is out of the way, and is no trouble when needed.
