i recently picked up an HK P7 with aftermarket Trijicons. Sights are way off. Can anyone provide a recommendation with p7 experience? Factory front sights come in 7 heights

Thanks all

Sure.

Way off vertically? Which direction? How much is "way off"? With what ammo, at what distance?

I have Trijicons on my P7s: zero problem with zero at 25 yards with 115gr +P

I replaced the stock sights with Meprolight. I was prepared to file some material off the front sight but they turned out to be ok right out of the box, 3" low @ 25yd. You might want to try that unless you can find a shorter Trijicon front sight for your gun?

20 paces, 8 inches low
Is that shooting off a rest?
Which sight alignment are you using?
Does it shoot the same for other shooters?
How large a group at that distance?
Are you measuring to the center of a group?
How are you determining center?
Which ammo/bullet weight are you shooting?

If you want to stick with night sights (and your current ammo), there are not many options: Meprolight and XS Big Dot. The Big Dot is easy to "float" above the rear sight to get your groups up, but the groups will widen.

You might want to depend on "Kentucky" elevation; or change ammo; or leave it alone. 8 in at 50 ft is 77 mils at the front sight; and 2 1/2 inches at 7 yards.
file some material off the front sight
With tritiums and other dot sights, people often tend to line up the dots, not the tops of the sights. Since you don't raise the front dot by filing the sight down, it often doesn't change the point of impact.

The proper sight picture on HK's is to line up the dots. I've never messed with the factory sights on my P7's so can't offer much help beyond the proper sight picture. Call HK customer service and see if they can guide you?

Join the HK pro forum--www.hkpro.com--and post your query over there under the "HK handguns" section. Very knowledgeable folks there on all aspects of the P7. The "Cult of the P7" over at the Park Cities Tactical website are also well-learned in the P7 mysteries, but that site seems a bit slow just now, as far as member participation goes anyway.

Lighter bullets shoot higher than heavy bullets.
faster velocity will raise point of impact as well.

Try to locate some European 115 grain fmj or jhp ammo before you go messing with the sights and see how that works for you.
