I've heard that it's nearly non-existent, if your gun breaks you are basically on your own.

For the people that own HK's:

-Have you ever had any issues?
-If you have had problems, how did HK deal with the problem?

I'm considering purchasing an HK, but I would like to have some sort of after-purchase support.

-Have you ever had any issues?

4 HK's, ZERO problem. No parts breakage, no parts replacement, not one stupid single malfunction even while shooting cheap russian ammo. Can't say the same thing with my jamomatic 1911's.

-If you have had problems, how did HK deal with the problem?

I wanted some new mag springs just because, so called them up, asked for springs. Got it a few days later FREE of charge.

Good question, I've been wondering the same thing since a P2000 is on my potential next purchase list.

I've read some very negative comments about HK's CS and how they treat the civilian market like a red-headed stepchild. They really care about military and LE.

I've only had to call HK c/s once, but the experience was simple & pleasant. I wouldn't worry about it :D

I had to replace a mag on my fullsize USP I used to have. I called - they do only have 4 reps for service. If U don't reach 1 right away, U hit their voice mail (they don't put U on hold). U leave a message and they call U back. Had to mail the mag in, and they sent me a new one a week later. Only think I didn't like was the fact that U can't stay on hold until U hit a rep, like most other companies do. So, call early in the day, and leave a # U will be at a while (like at work - call from work).

Anyway, I thought they were ok overall. This was back in Mar 06.

my USP .45f was having a little difficulty. I called in. Left message. They called me back same day and we talked. Over the phone diagnosis he said to send it in. Fixed and returned in about 1 1/2 weeks. No problems since

Only thing is it would have been nice to have a more detailed work order. But you cant argue with problem solved.

OK, thanks for the responses fellows.

The Internet can be a double edged sword. You get real time feed-back, but it's not always completely accurate.

Can anyone explain to me how HK got such a bad rap on the Internet? Everywhere I look it's the same; bad to non-existent customer service for civilians, and the prices for their pistols are too high for what you get.

Taffnevy, I don't know about that. As for prices, there are some cheap bastards among us. :D
Those who can afford, have multiple HK's. Those who can't, bitch.

HK CS

I have had two occasions where I needed to use HK's customer service with very good results.

One man's minor issue is another's major catastrophy. Unrealistic expectations or an inability to clearly articulate one's concerns often cause misperceptions or misunderstandings. Some just parrot what they've heard to get into the fray when they really have no justification for participating.
