HK USP .40...Anybody own one?

I owned the USP .40 just after it came out. Mine was one of the original USP's with the standard rifling. The recoil reduction system does work. Shooting side by side with a GLOCK 22 the recoil reduction was easy to feel. The GLOCK recoiled sharper and muzzle rose slightly less. The USP was much softer but did lift more. The key here is recoil management. It doesn't really matter if the muzzle rises more, it matters that you prep the trigger, practice a consistent grip, focus on the front sight, and in all ways be ready to break the shot as soon as the sights are back on target.

Was the USP heavier? yes. Was it bigger? yes. More Accurate? Yes. Easier to strip? No. Less Complex? No. Would I buy another one? Priced right--Absolutely, Ask me that about the GLOCK, and my answer would be never if the caliber exceeded 9mm. My experiences with the G22 can be found in other posts on this forum. I'm just happy to still belong to the 10 finger club.

And proper grip? I have big manly hands, not small girly ones, so no choking all the way up to the rear end of the slide for me. I don't like rail road tracks on the back of my hand....
 Well, last time I checked I didn't exactly have nail polish on my fingers, so I'm guessing my hands ain't "girly". I'm an average size guy with average size hands, and if I can get back on target fast enough, then a big "manly" man such as yourself ought to be able to do the same. :scrutiny:
That being said, there's nothing wrong with disliking a firearm, if you don't shoot well with it or don't like what it does for you, buy something else.
