That's for me to know and not you!
Sometimes after finishing a magazine my slide does not lock back, friend went through 40 230gr FMJ walmart special rounds and had the problem everytime.

I have had it before but only with my reloads and once in a while with the walmart stuff.

Here is what he was doing.

Manually locking the slide back.

Insert the loaded magazine.

Send the slide into batter

10 bangs later no slide lock back.

Anyone? I am not sure what to do.

If you shoot highthumb (thumbs forward) it's possible that the support thumb resting against the slidestop is keeping the slidestop from engaging on the last round. Same goes with my SIGs, and I've done it also on my P2K.

I'll be getting a USP .45 tomororw, so I'll try it out and let you know since I shoot my guns highthumb.

Also, 10 round USP .45 magazine springs are known for being weak and recommended to be replaced with Wolff springs. More can be better explained over at HKPro.com

Insert an empty magazine. Cycle the slide. Does it lock back? If it does, you may be inadvertently hitting the slide release.

Try shooting the gun with just your left hand. If the slide locks back, you may be inadvertently hitting the slide release.

I will check that out thank you very much.

Cawdor: I will try that also, did not try it, if it does not lock back still any suggestions?

I am using factory mags, had them since I purchased the weapon and yes they are 10 rounders....thinking about finding 12 rounders but you did not hear that.

WOW...almost 40,000 rounds through my USP 45 & Expert w/o a single hiccup.....could the mags be dirty? Could it be a probl w/ the mag stop?

When the slide cycles on an empty magazine, the follower pushes the slide release up to lock the slide open.

It could be weak a magazine spring, a defective follower, or a defective slide release.
