HK USP Compact or Sig 239 SAS?

My carry piece is a Sig 239 SAS DAK. I like it ok but would like something with a light rail. My bedstand gun was a Glock 17 but I sold it cause it was too big to carry.

I'm looking at the HK USP Compact in 9mm. Dimensionally it's smaller than the Sig except for the overall length. The HK is about 1/5 of an inch longer which shouldn't make a difference.

Suggestions? I'd be selling the Sig to fund the HK.

I've got the USPc in 9mm too. Nice gun, accurate and reliable. However, I don't find myself carrying it as much anymore. It's a tad bulky for Summer carry, but all other seasons it's perfect. For Summer I have a G19 that conceals on me better than the USPc. Bright side, assuming you'll be getting the V1, you'll gain the ability to carry cocked and locked, or DA/SA like your Sig...AND you'll get another what, 6-7 rounds in the mag too.

The USP compact 9mm is a superb weapon, and surprisingly small.

I highly recommend it.

Tough choice, but in your position, I would go with the HK. I have a USP 40, my first gun, it was nine years old when I bought it used and it looks exactly the same now as it did then.



At least, the spot I buried it looks the same.

it's a joke, maybe not funny but whatever. I really like that pistol, whenever I am away from it for a good amount of time it surprises me again with how good it feels in the hand, and how well-made it feels.

Don't know if this makes a difference to you, but the rail on the USPC is proprietary rather than picatinny.

I can't stand the balance (well, lack of balance) of the top-heavy P239.

My P6 (225) feels a lot like my friend's USPC 9mm, but the HK has a higher capacity.

If it were between those two, I'd get the HK. I don't like plastic frames though, and would hunt for a gently used P225, or buy a couple of P6s for less than $300 a piece. If I couldn't get one of those, I'd buy a P229.

This is true the rail is specifically designed for the "Insight Technologies" M2 UTL I own an H&K USP45 full size with that light attachment and love the thing, however I also agree that it's a lil bulky for summer wear.

I now own a SIG GSR1911C3 and that's what I carry during the warmer weather. I can conceal it better than the HK during these hot seasons, but in the winter oh you bet I carry the HK.

Don't trade in the SIG to fund the H&K I promise that you will be sorry in the end down the road. Wait and save up. Look into CPO (Certified PreOwned) H&K they are generally in very good condition as people use them to trade in for other guns because they found that the bulk wasn't for them or they didn't like polymer frames. It's a preference thing and I think that you will be happy with both.

You should take your time and think on this one a bit. I wouldn't sell either of my pistiol or trade them in ever. I love my H&K and I am really getting into this SIG.

Seriously they are both made by very well known and reputable companies, you can't go wrong my friend, you just can't go wrong... IMHO!!!

PS: The P239 SAS is okay, if you take off the too-fat wood grips. Then it slims down to a whisper.

+1 on that. Traded a Sig 229 for some gun or other.. less than a year later I went out and bought another. One of those 'ugly shudder' memories...
