hi i was just wondering what everybodys oppinion is about the hk usp compact 40 is and how it compares to the glock or sigs thanks

Prepare for hundreds of Glock fans to come to this thread to defend their favorite tupperware gun.

Anyways the Glock and the Hk are night and day different because of their design. Glocks well are Glocks.

Hks have a 1911 grip angle, and offer many different trigger combinations to suit your needs. Want a Glock style trigger? Have a LEM kit installed, want a DA/SA well depending on if you want a safety or a decocker there are 5 different ways to get that.

Accuracy wise they are both the same, recoil wise, the Hk will be slightly lower, but it's all pretty much the same. Capacity wise a Glock will be one or two more rounds, but good luck getting those rounds in the magazine.

Sig vs Hk, well it's kind of hard to compare a metal framed gun to a tupperware gun, I would say they are similar except I don't believe Sig gives you the option of carrying cocked and locked. With a Sig 40 you just replace the barrel you have a 357sig.

All 3 brands are known for quality firearms. The only thing that matters is what fits your hands and what you shoot comfortably. Nobody can tell you which one's better.

thanks not trying to have a brand bash was just wondering the gun i get will be for concealed carry and home defense

I couldn't be happier with my HK P2000 9mm LEM. I am no Glock basher. I would actually love to get a Glock 20 (10mm), but I really feel like the HK is a finely crafted piece of machinery. To me it's the nicest of the plastics. The Glock is more of a utilitarian tool. Either will get the job done equally as well.

The slide on the Hk is a bit wider to a Glock. I've recently shot the USP .40S&W compact recently and wasn't impressed. Very accurate though, but still not impressed. Now an Hk P2000...that's what I'm talking about.

I've had my HK Compact 40 since they first came out in 96 or 97. I've put about all the store bought ammo I can get my hands on. Now, it will cycle anything reliably! Accurate groupings are another story. As far as that goes the pistol is picky. Here is what I have found with mine for accuracy.
Best store bought ammo: 155 gr Starfire HP
Best practice ammo: 180 gr. FMJ Magtech
Best overall: 135 grain HP Nosler Competition Handgun with 8 gr of Power Pistol powder gives 1300 FPS by chrony and at 15 feet a pattern baseball sized. Seating depth is at max length allowable for magazine. (I can get the measurement if you want, but don't have it with me.)

I have all 3 (3 Glocks -17, 26, and 27 an HK uspc .40 and a Sig 239 in 9mm).

Can't go wrong with either as far as reliability or accuracy goes. The Sig is heavy for its size and has a much smaller capacity. The HK is pretty bulky but much more "refined" feeling than the other 2. The Glock is the lightest and holds the most.

Pick which one feel the best and go with it.

I've also had my USPc since they came out. It replaced a G22. The grip is smaller than Glock's which my hands appreciate. The muzzle rises somewhat more on the H&K during recoil than with the Glock. I haven't found this to be an issue as proper technique causes the sights to drop right back down onto the target.

For the size, I think the H&K is a very efficient weapon. There are others that hold more, or are smaller, but for me the USPc in .40 is the best package of size, fit, capacity, reliability, and accuracy.

I'm a Big Glock fan. That said I would rather have a HK P2000 than a Glock 23. I would also choose a Sig over a Glock in the .40 Caliber. The heavier guns will have less felt recoil than the glock making follow-up shots easier & more accurate.

As far as HK's &'d rather have the P2000 than the UPS series.

However, in 9mm you can't beat a Glock 17/19/26 or 34 best of breed.

I haven't had any experience with a USP compact but would like to echo glockman19's sentiments in that I'd choose a heavier gun in the .40 caliber because the "plastic" guns tend to have noticeable muzzle flip in my experience. I noticed significant muzzle flip with the USP .40 full size that I shot; I can only imagine that of the USP compact.

usp_fan, you say that the muzzle rise with the HK was more than that of the Glock. I find this somewhat odd given HK's recoil reduction system, but perhaps it had more to do with the size of the compact vs. the full size. Maybe it could be attributed to HK's higher bore axis?

That being said, if I were in the market for a .40 I would probably narrow the field down to a CZ 75B, a Sig, or the Beretta PX4. The first two options utilize a heavier frame to lessen the recoil while the latter incorporates a rotating barrel mechanism that supposedly softens the recoil of the .40. I'd love to put a few rounds through a Glock .40 since they are so popular -- my neighbor has a Glock 27, but I can't imagine that small pistol having less recoil than the full size USP. We'll see.

I'm not a 40 fan -- and I've owned a few, incl a G23 and a USPc 40. Now I do like Glocks & HKs but if I had to choose, I'd recommend the HK because I shoot them better :D

I used to have an HK UPSc in .40 SW. In my opinion, it is one of the most reliable handguns to date. I fired nearly 2,000 rounds without any failures of any kind. The only reason I sold it was to finance my purchase of a P2000SK, because it is a bit more concealable. The only thing I really could complain about regarding the USPc is something which affects all polymer framed guns across the board: greater muzzle flip.

H&K (or Glock) all the way

I've had a USP40c since 96/97 and after 5,000 plus rounds of crappy ammo all the way to very expensive ammo no ftf's or fte's to talk about....extremely reliable......I also bought a g22 for a utility ccw while repoing because of laying on the blacktop hooking up the cars I was afraid to scratch my H&K and I'd feel better scratching my glock since i bought it for $250 after eating only 500 rounds for my brother n law who bought it new....
He's the one that priced it...don't blame me. 6 months after buying he went to work as a LEO and rec'd a new g22 & a g26 for free..:neener:
Had a SIG 229 in early 90's IMHO great gun but too heavy....
Both are good guns and you should be proud to own either one

I've had my USP-c .40 for about 7 years and nearly 10,000 rounds. its been a fantastic gun and i don't plan on trading it for anything until it dies. that probably won't happen before i do. i think its control configuration is the most intuitive of all the guns i've tried. its a lighter weight .40 so it does have a little snappier recoil than its 9mm counterpart but its nothing one can't get used to in short order. the recoil reduction system is only in the full size USP's, not the compacts. you can't go wrong with it and even though its a little spendier than some others, you won't regret it.

I think the USP compacts are very nice, but as much as I like them I would not trade one of my Glocks for one.

Glock is as good as it gets.

I like the various ways you can carry a USP. Cocked & locked like a 1911, DA/SA like a Sig, or if you're really paranoid, DA/SA with safety on.

The USPc .40 is my daily carry weapon.

I don't like the ergonomics or trigger of Glocks. I don't have much experience with Sigs. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three, but I chose the USP. See how each fits you.

HK is amazing and their customer service has done a complete 180 in the last few years. I used to have to carry a G30 and I hated it because it didnt fit my hands right. I eventually found HK and never looked back. They just dont quit, yes you pay for it...but you definitely get what you pay for.

My wife has a USP compact 9mm and loves it. I like the fact that you can carry it cocked and locked or traditional double action. As for a comparison with a Glock, XD, M&P, etc they are all different animals. The only way to know which pistol is right for you is to handle them. I like the feel of the HK over the Glock, but that's my preference. The USP compact controls are easy for my wife to reach.
