looking for a new carry pistol...narrowed it down to either HK P2000sk or Sig P224 I like both HKs and Sigs...can only get one now....give me opinions and thoughts...

LEM or DAK?.....

Do you want the TDA or tradional double action or the DA only?
The HK(LEM) or SIG Sauer(DAK) would be good for defense or home security.
DAK means Double Action Kellerman. Kellerman was the German engineer who T&Eed the DA only design.

Both HKs & SIGs work well.
The P224 pistol can take larger P series magazines in a pinch which could be practical.
The P2000sk offers more ambi controls which is good.

The P2000sk can also use the mags from the P30 (and USPc, and P2000). This can be great in a pinch, too. For example I have holsters for my USPc and P30S but no matter which gun I'm carrying I carry the same spare. You can do this with the P2000sk as well.

Get the P2000sk. I just had the nickel plated 224. It shot fine, but honestly, it is almost as heavy as a big beretta 92. I carried the gun two times and knew I didn't want it anymore. A gun the size of a Glock 26 that weighs as much as a beretta 92. I just assume carry a Beretta 92.

It also took me quite a while to sell it, compared to other guns I sold

While I'm a big Sig fan, I'd probably go with the HK. I'd also be more inclined towards the P2000 rather than the sk.

I want the DA/SA trigger systems...and I have the P2000 and like it and shoot it well...now I wanting something a little smaller...I am leaning towards the HK because of what was stated eariler about inter changing the mags...also I the grips on the HKs feel thinner in my hand and seem to fit me better...I do think the Sig has a better DA trigger out of the box

The HK P2000SK is proven and known. The P224 doesn't have much of a track record (if any). Personally, I do not adopt a new design for at least two years after release. Too many companies are letting their customers do the final QA and this is not acceptable for guns for serious purposes.

The P2000SK offers several trigger types, including DA/SA, so that meets your requirement.

If you go with the P2000sk, make sure to get it in 9 vs. .40. .40 is usually snappy in any gun but especially so in the smaller P2000sk.

If you already have the P2000, the P2000sk would make a great companion with the same manual of arms and it can use the P2000 mags in a pinch as others have mentioned if both are in the same caliber.

I have several H&K and SIG pistols. My choice would be the H&K P2000sk. The SIG 224 is just too heavy for a CCW.

I currently own a P2000SK and it is a joy to carry. Superb ergonomics and friendly controls. I cannot say enough good things about it.

If I were making the decision, I'd go with the HK without a second's hesitation -- but I don't care for anything that Sig-Exeter/Newington produces these days. Even if I did, the P224 is too heavy.

Well, it's basically a cut down 229. I had no issues with mine., The only complaint I remember seeing was a few people at the Sig forum had issues with the front tritium dying.

But as stated above, I sold mine because of the weight. I have a Shield now I love - but if I wanted a double stack with more rounds (that size)< the P2000sk would be my choice. I prev had a regular P2000, and it was great

Go rent one because you may hate it. I loved the USP 45 Compact until I shot it.

BTW, since it's so close to the end of the year I'd wait on a P2000sk til Jan if it were me. Rumor has it there will be a substantial price drop on it very early next year (in advance of the new P30sk). Unless you need it PDQ you might save a hundred, hundred-fifty bucks.

Well, isn't there a $200 rebate right now on HK guns. I wouldn't pass that up. Doesn't it expire Dec 31st?

The P30sk hasn't been announced through official channels yet but credible reporters have seen the gun at a couple of industry events. It's real. I would guess it's probably coming in 2015, but that's not written in stone.

I like & own SIG and H&K pistols, but I don't have either one of these. But if I had to choose one of these, I'd take the H&K P2000SK.

Since you already have a P2000 and like it, this should be a very easy decision, and not just because of mag compatability. Identical manual of arms, decocker in the same place, mag release the same. In a moment of stress mixed with terror, you shouldn't have to try and remember which gun you have and how it works.

all very good points...I am going with the HK,,,I will get DA/SA...but could it be converted to the LEM trigger later...or is it a done deal...the way it comes is the way it stays...thanks for all the in put
