I notice that PTR is doing their version of the HK93(?) now. I hit all the usual spots (cope's, 44mag, cdnn, etc) and didn't notice anyone making reproduction 30-round mags for this rifle.

Did I miss someone, or do you have to pay $60/ea for the real thing (when you can find them)?

Anyone have any comments on the magazine situation or the rifle itself?

I emailed PTR91 many months ago, and was told:
1) Those aren't in production yet.
2) They will use HK type magazines, so yes I assume it would be an HK93 mag if such a thing was made in 7.62x39mm
3) The actual design is NOT an HK93 design, but rather an HK91/PTR91 simply with a bolt, barrel and magwell for the shorter 7.62x39mm round. This surprised me.

Be curious what anyone else has heard. To me it seems like a lot of money for a mutant plinker. And I like the PTR91 design.

The JLD PTR-32 is their take on a clone of the H&K HK-32.

The original HK-32 used a different magazine than the HK-33. So, it is very unlikely the 5.56x45mm HK-33/53/93 magazines will work in the 7.62x39mm PTR-32.

The HK-32 never went into production.

I heard that JLD has had some problems with their proprietary mag design. They are debating whether to try to debug their magazine or lease the rights to our magwell adapter that will let their gun use standard AK47 mags. Considering that their gun is using the larger .308 receiver, a magwell adapter makes more sense than a magazine with what basically amounts to and adapter block attached to it. Should have some update on this in the upcoming weeks.

I hope they will use your adaptor! I have wanted to get in on that since I first saw it. AK mags in a more refined rifle... yay!

Are we selling the adapter yet? No. Why? Because we are going to rework Kenny's design to improve the consistency and manufacturing ease. The adapter you saw on HKPRO was made by hand and considering that, it was made very well. We're going to provide the design and manufacturing know-how to make it a precision product that (like all our own products) works as advertised.

We listed the adapter to drum up some internet exposure for it so that people knew about it already when it went into production. We aren't going to sell a single unit until our R&D guys torture test the production version and I sign off on it myself.
