WESTON, Wis. — The principal of Wisconsin's Weston School was shot and critically injured Friday when an individual armed with at least two weapons entered the building.

WKOW-TV reported that the shooter was a former student and that the school is in lockdown.

Principal John Klang was critically injured in the shooting, and taken directly to the hospital.

The principal was apparently shot several times, according to Sauk County sheriff's Capt. Michael Haifemann.

The shooter was disarmed and taken into custody.

The suspect came into the school and began firing one of his weapons, and was overheard saying, 'I'm not f---ing around with anyone,' Weston School District Secretary Jean told local NBC affiliate WMTV.

Klang has been with the school for two years, and is believed to be 49 years old and married with children, Jean said.

A Richland County sheriff's official said students at the Weston School complex in Sauk County are safe. Police Chief Deputy Tom Hougan said the scene is secure.

"The students are safe," Hougan said. "The scene is secure."

Cazenovia is a community of about 300 people about 60 miles northwest of Madison.

Is it just me or are they setting us up for another 94/86 deal? Or prehaps worse? :cuss: :banghead:

That's it! I'm having a vasectomy.

I'm not bringing kids into a world where their only fear at school was losing the occasional lunch money and getting super atomic wedgies after they refuse to shower with the other boys in gym class ;)

TRL

Perhaps the principle's last thoughts were:

"At least all the gun control we have now keeps us all so very safe."

or maybe:

"I had better phone the police now. They will keep me safe."

better yet:

"Hey, that CANNOT be a gun that I am seeing, because the law specifically prohibits minors from legally owning it. Therefore I am imagining things. Move along, nothing to see here."

It is sad

that an innocent person was shot and may die but with all these shootings it really makes any gun control laws look like the big joke that they are.Why cant our gov. and law makers see this? When will they open their eyes?

:barf: not taking the highroad with that post IMO.

it looks like the principal died confronting and disarming the boy preventing the loss of other lives. here is a link with more details http://www.madison.com/bn/index.php?action=this&bn_id=0-100956

you're spinning his death just like the antis will spin the shooting to suggest more gun restrictions should be made.

Or maybe his last thoughts were "I hope my wife and children know I love them..."

Or maybe even "I wish i'd have had less conscience about silly laws and carried anyways"

I DON'T know his last thoughts, but there's a few alternatives that actually make him seem like a good guy

Not just marshals, teachers in general should be armed. Any law abiding adult at a school should be allowed to be armed.

2 things

1. The executive of a school is a principal. Not to be mean, but we don't want the antis to paint us as uneducated.

2. How do you know the principal wasn't thinking. "Lousy laws. I can't even bring a gun for protection at work. I, my co-workers, or my pupils may need protection." ?

When all of us armchair commando's go home today, and look at our children, we should remember that men, no, HERO's, like John Klang are the reason that our children return home from school safely every day.

I agree. He did what many of us would hope to have the balls to do, if we were in that situation without the guns most of us would choose for our tools.

So the question is, will we die to save others, or will we carry illegally and go to prison to save others?
