For those of y’all that are interested in playing with leather, Hobby Lobby has their leather pieces on sale for 30% off. It’s no screaming deal for folks big into leather working, but for somebody with a couple small projects in mind it might be the time to go snag a bag of scraps. I got a bag with several really nice pieces for about 9 bucks (12.99 less 30 percent) and I knew what I was getting as opposed to similar priced eBay scrap auctions.

The kits for holsters and knife sheaths are on sale as well and work out to be in the $11 range. Again, no screaming deal but worth the money if you just want to dabble and try making something out of leather.

Tooling leather rolls were in the $30 range, and by weight I got roughly the same amount. I know I will have more drops due to odd shapes, but for 1/4 price I’m good with that.

A6995EF4-DD27-47BE-9F4B-D3F9CC8A9701.jpeg I figured I would share a photo of what my bag contained. All thick and heavy with the exception of the pretty brown piece. It feels just like my recliner and I’m inclined to believe that it is in fact furniture leather. It’s soft, thin, and flexible. The white is very thick and tough. Pretty good haul to make some holsters for Derringers and such.

That is certainly worth what you paid.

Is there that much interest on this board for pieces like that for hobbyist makers? I throw away stuff like that a lot of times. I try to use it on smaller knife sheaths and such but most of my work these days is belts and holsters so I get overwhelmed with pieces too small for full size holsters, belly leather, etc.

I could put together some boxes of smaller pieces if it would help out some hobby makers and turn some of my scraps into a little cash. Anyone looking for something PM me what you're looking for I'll see what I have laying around.

There is absolutely a market for scraps of reasonable size. I don’t know that we have enough folks here to make it worthwhile, but give it a try. If it sells then great, if not people buy scrap lots on eBay all day long. Just take decent pictures and have a size reference in the pic (why I threw the $10 bill on the table).
