I have the Taurus 605.
My question today is: It came with the boot grips, I put on the factory combat grips to get the pinky position. Now I find that when I shoot my trigger finger interferes with my thumb and upper grip finger. It seems that more "fill" behind the trigger guard would solve this problem. Has anyone changed to the Hogue Monogrip, and has it improved the handling of the gun? In particular, has anyone gone from the factory combat grip to the Hogue?

Hey, I've had the same problem with the Taurus 651 (very similar to yours, just with a shrouded hammer). I like the rubber on the Hogue grips much better, but I found that they (the Monogrips) made the problem you note even worse! That's because the back of them is open, allowing the grip backstrap to be exposed. In short, they have no built-up area behind the grip that you'll find in the Taurus OEM grips... While I love the Monogrips on my larger framed revolvers, I've found that they make my trigger finger run into my thumb before the hammer drops on the trigger stroke. So in short, my opinion is that the Hogue's will actually make it worse. I've also got both the boot and the combat grips, and I think I like the original boot best, as I naturally take a high hold on it, and don't on the others... just my 2 cents...

p.s. Check this zoomable pick and you can see the grip frame exposed on the back of the Hogue's:

I have a Taurus 85 which I believe is the same frame size but I might be wrong. I put a wood Hogue monogrip on mine. I bought it from the Hogue Auction and it is supposed to have an imperfection but I don't see it. Maybe this grip will work for you.
