Okay I'm looking at getting Hogue rubber grips for a pistol and am just looking to see if they wrap around the backstrap of the gun and if there's any reason to get the finger groove grips as far as recoil reduction or anything. Thanks

It depends on the model of gun you're needing a grip for.

I don't personally like the finger grooves on the front strap as they don't fit my fingers. I think you'd get more from vertical serrations than lateral depressions

I would also choose straight grips given the choice. For me, straight are faster to pickup and hold firmly in an emergency. I own a pair with finger grips, but am not offered choice on the revolver I own.

For the 226, the Hogue grips do indeed wrap around the back of the gun...as a matter of fact they form the backstrap as the 226, all Sig P-series, doesn't have a backstrap. The grips protect your mainspring assembly
