Hollowcore 7.62X54R?

If it'll cycle a semi auto, it must be driven fairly fast... I'd bet that would invert a groundhog quite efficiently. Looks interesting enough to buy, but I'm still stuck with the last "novelty" ammunition I bought (Norma plastic 9mm training ammo) that I can't find a use for.

I'm sure these hollow core rounds are every bit as loud as your typical fodder and still plenty deadly out to a couple hundred yards... so I'd imagine the only advantage would be the reduced recoil.
If you'd like to put a couple hundred rounds through your M91/30, M38 or M44 in one sitting, this looks to be a good way to do it.

Other than that, I'd personally spend the money on military ball.

Interesting find though!

Heres a paragraph about it from AIM

Tired of taking a beating when shooting your Mosin Rifles? "Czech" out this Unique military Practice 54R Ammo. Rarely seen in the US! No compromise in performance to approximately 150 yards! Manufactured in the 1960's by the Czech Military Factory, features a "bxn" headstamp. The unique manufacturing prcess utilizes a steel jacket and liner creating a hollow core 46grn lightweight projectile, greatly reducing Recoil and risk of Richochets. This "practice" ammo does not compromise performance in shooting producing 3,200fps, and will cycle both semi/full auto firearms. Packed 12rds/box inside 912rd sealed case.

wondered about this stuff breifly earlier today.. was at the gunshow up in houston, and one of the bulk ammo dealers (one who dealt mainly in former com-bloc, ammo) had several crates (ie wooden boxes about half the size of a footlocker) worth of this stuff.

since i don't currently own, a rifle that chambering, i didn't even bother to look at the price. it just caught my eye seeing "7.62x54R hollow core"

Things it probably isn't:

Accurate.

Reliable in a Semi.

Going to penetrate very deep.

Who knows, maybe this stuff might just be the ticket for my chopped short barreled CQB Druganov.

A far easier solution would be to use 7.62x39 bullets & powder charges (w/ some type of filler to take up case room) & just make a "reduced recoil" loading. I'm experimenting w/ a .303Brit load like this...

46 GRAINS!!!! Did they have some Tokarev bullets to get rid of or what?..:scrutiny:
