I have a Ruger SP101, 357, 2 1/8" barrel, DAO spurless hammer. I am looking for a quality OTW Pancake holster. Would probably prefer a retension strap, but not a requirement. I prefer a high ride type holster.

Any recommendations by those carrying this exact gun? Thanks a bunch!

Not to drive traffic away from THR, but this just came up on TFL. Might be worth a look: http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258870
I carry the hammered 3" version in a Bianchi pancake with a thumb strap. I never fasten it and wish it wasn't there.

The Galco Speed Master sure looks nice.

I also have a 2 1/8 spurless

I carry it in a Don Hume IWB holster with no retention...

I know this probably doesnt help you...but Don Hume probably makes something your looking for....I love the quality of mine.

After seeing the pic of the Don Hume H721 OT that BigMike45 posted in the SP101 Picture Thread, that would be my first pick to try out.

Or, I'd make my own copy.

Just finished this one for my 3" GP100:

I have three:

My favorite is a Sherrick Horsehide High Rise Double Loop:

Second in line is a Don Hume JIT, not a true pancake, but fast and minimal:

Last is the Galco Speedmaster already discussed above. Good holster, but a bit bulky for my taste. I generally use it for open carry only.

Note that none have retention devices though, as I don't like them on a concealment holster.

YMMV

My favorite for the SP101s (been carrying one of these concealed for over 7 years now) is the Don Hume H721 OT. It is an Open Top design but holds the gun tight.

It is a great concealment holster as it holds gun high and tight and it has a sweat sheild built in to ease reholstering and keep gunk off the gun.

It took me about 4 years to find this holster and I have not found one better yet.....well I quit looking :)

358minus1 - I carry the same revolver you describe in the Don Hume 721 OT that Bulldog refers to. It does carry the gun high and close to the body with little movement.

I also sometimes use the Don Hume JIT that Striker mentioned. This one I like if I'll be sitting or driving for a while. It is minimal as was mentioned, and does not carry as high or close as the 721.

Nice looking holster Bulldog.

Thanks! No, I don't make 'em for a living because A) I'm nowhere near good enough to do so, and B) I'd starve if I did do it for a living. :D

I just have a couple of guns that needed holsters. I couldn't find what I wanted, and I already had the tools and the leather, so I just decided to come up with something myself.
