Home Defense for amateurs -- Marlin Model 60 .22LR?

I gave two of these as gifts. Both proved reliable and usable for defense in a pinch. Down sides: newer guns require two racks to charge the chamber, reloading is slow and awkward. Not desirable for defense, though usable.
