I took two new shotguns to the range today for some extened testing, I posted a short review of the Mossberg Rythym earlier and now for the M2 Tactical (recoil operated).

My wife bought this for me for a Christmas present, it has the 18.5" barrel, 3 dot ghost ring sights and pistol grip stock. I added a Nordic +4 magazine tube to take it up to 7+1 capacity, as well as a barrel clamp for the tube and the GG&G extended bolt handle. From the factory it comes with a +2 magazine extension so you are only gaining 2 rounds with the +4 extension. It also includes three choke tubes with basic gun.

As with the Rythym the gun was tested with mixed ammo, full power buckshot, Winchester reduced recoil buckshot and Federal bulk 7 1/2 birdshot. In the past recoil operated guns were sometimes troublesome with reduced power loads, however I am happy to report no problems at all. We mixed loads in the tubes and shot on a pattern board at 25 yards and with about 75 rounds total (and four different shooters) there were zero problems. With the ghost ring sights you could shoot the buckshot just like a slug, with the IC choke installed and shooting the Winchester low recoil buckshot we got 8-10" patterns dead center at 25 yards, pretty handy for a HD shotgun.

Recoil is very well controlled with this stock, we had a couple of twenty something ladies shooting it (first time with a shotgun for both) and with buckshot and the 7 1/2's they were getting center of mass hits and both said the recoil was much less than they thought it would be.

Benelli's have never been a "bargain", but they are worth the money in my opinion. I know some people don't like recoil operated guns but they have proven to be extremely reliable over the years, and the Benelli is extremely well built and well finished. I think it will be a good replacement for my Mossberg 500, which I have gotten much slower reloading with over the years.

The M2 is Just awesome .The fit ,finish and handling is amazing. It must be in hand to understand the quality of this shotgun!!!!

I love the M2 minus the pistol grip though is my personal preference. They are the best of the best.
