Shotgun is fully loaded, safety on, muzzle down, inside a quick-access, digital keypad full-sized safe, inside the man cave down the hall from the bedroom.

Handgun is fully loaded, safety on, semi-hidden (comforter draped over) in a "mattress holster" beside/hanging on the bed I sleep in (along with a Black Bear Borealis). There are no children in this house, and rarely any guests.

Primary CCW handgun is lying on the dresser in its smart-carry holster when home. So I've got two very-quickly accessible handguns, and one fairly-quickly accessible shotgun.

Backup CCW handgun is fully loaded, on a shelf in same quick-access full-sized safe.

Also in the safe, the K31 has a full mag (5 rounds) separated from the rifle, if things really get bad.

Shotgun trigger locked, unloaded, with ammo in separate locked compartment, required by law? The Canadian government sucks.

Carne Frio; that link is the one that was in my original inquiry. The shortcomings have already been discussed.

lions; I don't think the Mossberg one is still in production. I do like the design though.

Cocked & locked on a empty chamber with the safety on stored in the MBR closet.
I figure I need to take the safety off, either pull the trigger then rack the slide or hit the slide release, in my way of thinking to go thru all that I have to be wide awake..

Why worry about it when you're not there? Shotguns are relatively cheap compared to the other things that thieves will make off with while you're gone.

I suppose that depends on the type of shotgun. I actually am considering investing in a cheap norinco for this reason. My shotgun is nearby when I am home. It is in the safe if no one is home.

Quilbilly, I like your shotgun storage site

I am trying to figure how I could do it with my bed that I have. I can just hear my wife utter " oh no now its the bed" or something similar, but she will let me do it if it works out. I would probably have to buy a different bed??? My mattress does not have a board on the outside. Where do you get that much room for it??
