Shotgun is fully loaded, safety on, muzzle down, inside a quick-access, digital keypad full-sized safe, inside the man cave down the hall from the bedroom.
Handgun is fully loaded, safety on, semi-hidden (comforter draped over) in a "mattress holster" beside/hanging on the bed I sleep in (along with a Black Bear Borealis). There are no children in this house, and rarely any guests.
Primary CCW handgun is lying on the dresser in its smart-carry holster when home. So I've got two very-quickly accessible handguns, and one fairly-quickly accessible shotgun.
Backup CCW handgun is fully loaded, on a shelf in same quick-access full-sized safe.
Also in the safe, the K31 has a full mag (5 rounds) separated from the rifle, if things really get bad.
Shotgun trigger locked, unloaded, with ammo in separate locked compartment, required by law? The Canadian government sucks.
