Back from the auction.

Scored a very nice condition Armi San Marco Walker. Date code shows it was made in 1997 but it was in it's box and appears unfired. $250. I'll post side-by-side comparison photos with my Uberti Walker later.

Also bought a gun that I can't figure out: Stamped Thompson Center Arms, Rochester, New Hampshire, 50 Cal Custom Hawken XXV on the barrel, it has very highly polished blued metal (barrel, lock thimbles, trigger guard, butt plate, wedge, wedge plates and even the ramrod tips and thimbles) and excellent, highly polished dark walnut stock. Also $250. I can find no references on line nor in the Blue Book or Flayderman's to a "Custom Hawken" by TC. Anyone know what I have? Again, more pics later.

Nice finds. I remember coming across a plus grade Hawken in one of the catalogs a few years ago. I can't recall what it was called and will see if I can find the catalog.

Very interesting firearm.

I am not sure by any means, but TC makes "Special" guns from time to time and that might be a 25 year anniversary special.

The wood most definately is very nice, as it the polish and blue. I can't be sure, but that wood seems to be Maple.

Also I have never seen triggers in a gold tone on any TC.

Is the lock also high polish, and perhaps a better flame color?

Macmac,

The colors in my photos are due to my lack of experience with a brand new camera. It has superb low light capability, unlike anything I've ever used before, so those pics were done with natural light. Unfortunately, I failed to set up the camera properly, using a manual mode but without adjusting for the poor light from the lamp next to my recliner.

The yellow cast is not present in the metal or the wood; it's due to my haste in getting photos for the posting. The metal is really a deep, dark, almost black, blue, and the wood is definately a medium dark walnut. The lock and hammer are both the same dark blue as the barrel, as are the triggers and trigger guard.

This is a "barbeque gun", not intended for hunting. It'll go to the more formal social sportsman's club events.

I'll try to get some real color pictures soon - I gotta read the manual for the camera first. Or perhaps just use the automatic mode...
