does anyone here know how to make patch lube thats cheaper than store bought and works well ?

thanks all

spit?

I rendered the fat from "Sparky", my four point, for grease. Does that count (and it's cheap too).

ya that counts :D
one of the lubes that im going to experiment with is lard and fat lubes
but ive still got to find out how to refine it to a pure lard or fat .

Crisco works fine but I prefer Bore Butter.
I melt my bore butter in an old sauce pan and drop a few patches at a time in the melted bore butter. when they are saturated I pull them out with thongs and cool on a rack. One tube of bore butter will lube 500-1000 patches this way.
