I'm getting ready to range test my Lyman GPR and need a bit of technical assistance. I bought some pre-lubed pillow ticking patches and a couple hundred cotton or linen patches w/o lube. I also have a tube of T/C Natural Lube 1000 Bore Butter.
Rather than lube the patches by one-by-one, I was wondering if I could put the patches in a microwave safe container, squeeze some lube on them and nuke it for a few seconds until the patches soak up the lube.
The tube says bore butter is made from food grade products. It looks like yellow shortening with a little Ben Gay smell to it.

This is what I do - for what its worth. I cut my own pillow ticking into square patches, about 15-20 at a time. I just rub in some of the TC bore butter to each patch and stick them together and keep that bundle in my shooting bag. They tend to work pretty good without additional lube if you lube them up good to begin with. If I am reloading my third or fourth shot, or if the patch seems a little dry, just a little spit on the patch will slick it right up.

By the way, I use this technique for my 42" .45 cal Kentucky rifle.

What you propose will work. The microwave safe container is a good idea. Don't let the lady catch you and clean up any mess.

I only use wonder lube for hunting.

I got tired of having to clean between shots and the rifle getting hard to load.

Using our homemade patch lube and cleaner combo I can shoot heavy loads ALL DAY LONG and the last shot loads as easy as the first.

Using this lube the bore does not become fouled.

You people can waste time cleaning between shots and fighting with fouling build up but I have more fun if I can just load and shoot.

This is a mixture some buckskinners came up with and it does work.

NOTHING you can buy or make comes close to being as good at cleaning blackpowder fouling and lubing patches as this stuff. We call it Panther Piss.

Mix 3pts rubbing alcohol, 3pts peroxide, and 2pts Murphys Oil Soap in a dark container. Light affects peroxide. That is why it comes in a dark container. I use an anti freeze jug.

This jug of cleaner will cost less than $5 and last you a long time.
