Homeowner's son shoots, kills three would-be burglars with AR15

This happened about 35 miles from my house. The 911 call has been released. It's on KRMG.com He is fairly calm and collected. It was a good shooting no matter how anyone on the left tries to spin it.

It's sad that 4 individuals were so stupid. But that's 4 individuals that won't ever break into anyone else's house and possibly really harm someone, as two were armed with a knife and brass knuckles. And the driver has been charged with 3 counts of first degree murder.

Death doesn't always affect people. I know first hand. I have had 2 men die while fighting me in a crisis stabilization center. Both were trying to do serious harm to others and/or myself. When both stopped breathing, I did everything I could to revive them. But when T.O.D. was called, I went back to my job. And never had remorse or wondered what I could have done different. They died as a direct result of their actions. Not mine. As did these 3 young men.

I have read more than once that most burglaries occur between 11 am and 3 pm, thieves who just want stuff and do not want to get into it with the owners prefer to strike when the owners are at work. My old house was broken into once, in the daytime.

I observed a break in at an apartment complex I was living in during this time of the day. This was pre-cell phone days and I was just leaving in my car. But it looked very suspect.

My house in Texas was broke into between 2 and 3 AM while I was asleep.

I think it's a near certainty they were going down that road. Maybe they would have seen the light and become priests, probably not. More likely they would have continued their criminal lifestyle and ended up killing innocent people someday. Their willingness to bring weapons clearly shows, at a minimum, that they had no problem killing anyone who got in their way, and over what, a big screen TV and maybe some jewelry? People who treat life that cheaply are definitely a danger to society.

Interesting -- a daytime (noonish) break-in ... on a Monday.

Hopefully the word will get out to all the bad folks in the area of Broken Arrow (always thought that was a great name for a town).

The mid afternoon is the prime time for these home break in's and home invasions, now. Also NRA stickers on the door window or vechicle is a sure way to attract them. I read an article in Rifleman recently about this. It's on the rise, these perps travel in groups, and have no fear or are too high to care. That's why I have carried at home the past 8 years. Just a kahr pm9, with 7 rounds, or any other small non intrusive pocket carry. I am confident if the door flys open I can stop it right there, especially after my cataracy surgery, lol, I can now see through the door.

The shooter didn't start those kids down their road. He was just the person unlucky enough to be there at its end.

I'm glad he is alive, and I hope he understands that he was morally and emotionally justified in what he did, not just legally justified.

I lived there for over 5 years and I never had any trouble ( thank god ) . but I stayed on my side of town .I'm disabled and I can't dance or box like I used to be able to do , so I enlist a " lil " help " sometimes . thank the lord above I have never had to take a life , although I've come close more times than I fear to count . what happened on this day is a true tragedy . yes the 3 intruders were zeroes , but they had a mother , and I hoped she cared about them even possibly knowing their dirty work . and the young man who killed them . he will carry that moment around forever in his heart and mind ( i don't say this in a bad way ) . I wish him and his family the best in what has transpired AND what will soon " transpire " in that town if any of those shot down were any color but " white " . see I'm OK , I'm brown ..... LOL.... HOPE MY OPINION DIDNT rileup ANYONE ... HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY ..

I would be very surprised if race is an issue in this situation. Hard to imagine anyone of ANY race trying to justify their actions.

Good afternoon to all present . what I meant by us using the word " color " was it seem unlikely by the crime reports I've seen that I THOUGHT THAT may have been the case . this is a fact about Tulsa and its outlying areas ( incl. Broken arrow ) that the program cops has inserted a film crew and I've it when many killings and shootings were shown . and this isn't meant to make anyone mad but the showed the color and it was tragic . all the loss . 1i. Guy was shooting dice and he ended up owing a guy $50 . when he couldn't pay-up , the guy shot and killed him . every week they show Tulsa , its really bad . but again everyone this is just my small world opinion . and I hope no offense was taken . hope the sun is shining where you are . ... ✌✌✌

I've been following this story for several days and am glad the homeowner and son are safe. On the flip side, I'm chagrined that this will likely appear in the FBI murder statistics next year with all three individuals "killed with an assault rifle", resulting in a blip in the stats that will be quoted over and over by anti-gun activists.

Along with that the Robin Hood idea of robbing from the better off is justified is a poor excuse to bolster a lazy/additcted persons position. Instead the parents SHOULD have been teaching those kids that B&E just might get you shot dead. It is sad that most young people are not taught that obeying the law as they are written is a necessity to living to a ripe old age. The female driver is now admitting that they had already broken into the same house or at outbuilding earlier in the day and were returning to get mores stuff because in her words "we got greedy."

It appears they were serial burglars.

Re the ongoing discussion of the impact of having to use deadly force I knew several dozen police officers who had to kill in the line of duty, was present twice when officers fatally shot suspects and never knew anyone who was not affected. The impact varied from pretty serious emotional upheaval to insomnia, stress reactions and such. All those I knew were confident that they had acted correctly. None ended their careers over it, and I am sure all reached mental equilibrium over things in time. I am hesitant to apply the PTSD label as I am not a mental health professional, and I believe everyone reacts differently, there being no universal reaction to trauma. But the previous poster with a combat background is correct; normal people do not go through life-threatening or life-taking events intact.

I knew a police chief who often said, when asked why his officers deserved a raise, that there are a number of professions where one may be called on to save a life, including firefighters, paramedics, ER personnel and even lifeguards, but of only two, soldier and cop, is it often asked to take one.

After reading the article all I can say is it made me mad because they sound like people who don`t take responsibly for their actions and make excuses for the actions of their DNA offspring.
