I am having a custom gun shipped to me in a few weeks and I need a FFL to receive it for me.

the gunsmith recommended, and emphasized someone I trust. well I am new down here and don't have a relationship with anyone yet, so as of now they are all equal. are there any markers like, being registered with BUDS, that are generally accepted as being a good guy to work with?

reason I ask, the gunsmith mentioned he has had clients firearms held for ransom essentially with FFL's wanting $200 for the transfer because it is a "special" circumstance, or FFL's unpacking the shipment and placing on the counter for half the customers to play with as an "ooh shiney" until the transfer happens.

not saying that this is normal, i just don't want to risk it on a custom gun. an AR lower that cost $70 is no biggie, but what I am paying i want honest professional conduct from the dealer. anyone have any good resources down here?

i'll drive an hour or so, the 'smith recommended a guy over in Daytona, 2 hrs away.

I have used a gun shop in Hudson Florida named Old Time Gun shop. The owners name is Mike Jones. He is honest and fair. I now live in Pa and use his son's shop in Honesdale, Pa. Give him a call and see what you think. (727) 857-1661).
Goodluck

The only one I know of, is C&H Precision. Buck Holly is a good guy, and a solid member of the shooting community. https://chpws.com/ He has a flat fee of 25$ no matter what it is. I think he is an hour or two south of Tampa, but he is a good honest person to work with. He is well respected within the industry.

I would check out Mark Kubes Firearms in Largo or Gun Stock and Barrel up in Inverness (a little over an hour north off of I-75). I know both of them and either would treat you right.
