A friend from our office has been hovering on the fringe of taking up my offer to go to the range. Yesterday he bit...

In short, I've created a monster.

I started him, as I start all new handgun shooters, on a Ruger Single Six. We progressed through the revolvers from SA to DA, then from .22 through .38 and on to .357. He was having a pretty good time.

Until...

I migrated him to semi-auto. He latched on to my 22/45 like a 'skeeter to the back of your ear. Oh sure, we kept on going until he had gone up the ranks from 9mm, to .40, to .45, but he kept going back to the little Ruger. When all was said and done we had gone through almost 1000 rounds! All this morning he's been bugging me about when we can go next.

Awesome.

I've been working on an old friend of mine from California. She's about as californian as you get.
She lives in Berkeley
She's gay.
She votes straight Democratic

BUT! she's going to be in Dallas in a few months for some Gay people's get together, and she asked me to take her shootin', so my fianceé and I and her will have an evening of it.

Never give up! You never know when you'll have someone converted!

Good job everyone, keep em coming. I am working on a few myself.

WELCOME Chemlia! Congrats on your first post. Don't worry about it, once you start shooting its a lot of fun. I have even made firearms my career. Good luck.

Converting that one sounds like work.

I took a liberal friend shooting the other day. Started him out with .17 HMR, then 7.62X39, then .30-06  He shot the .30-06 3 times total.

As for handguns, I had him shoot a .22 semi-auto, then a .38 special, then .357 magnum

He shot the .357 once then didn't want to anymore. :D

He loved the .22 pistol and the .17 HMR.

He was very safe the whole time (I gave him a lesson the day before). I have converted him from being anti-gun, and he had fun and wants to do it again (but he wants to go to go somewhere where he can shoot his old printer and human sillouette targets ;)). I have two more friends to bring shooting, they aren't anti gun, they just have no experience.

Excellent. I've "converted" 2 hardcore anti gunners already, and I'm starting on my third this weekend.

Cool beans.

I remember converting my fiance. She wasn't an anti-gunner but she didn't like guns. A female friend of mine whom she likes and trusts sai dshe doesn't like them either but recommended she get a CHL and a handgun for the safety of the family and herself. Well she turns 21 in July and she's getting her CHL then we can carry together.

What did it though was she went with me and a friend to the range and he brought his new Ruger Mk2 with him. After some persuasion we got her to shoot a mag. Then taught her how to line up the sights, and user trigger control. Her second and third mag kept all 20 shots not only on paper at about 15-20 yards, but she kept them all within the ring. Talk about a natural. On the way home she insisted we had to get her one. So after some trips to the gun shop I buy at, and some research, I bought her a Beretta U22 NEOS. She hasn't got to shoot it yet but she's in love. I'm a bit jealous of the gun but hey. I've gotten to shoot it and lemme tell ya this thing is a tack driver. More accurate then the Ruger she shot. My only fear now is she'll be a better shot then I am.

Of course I can't be too bright, I bought it for her when she was pregnant plus 500 rounds of ammo. I'm alive and no extra holes so I did something right.
