Ive tried for years to figure out how to get solvent on the patch with out making a mess and or spilling solvent. I poured the whole bottle in a small spray bottle. I lay a old towel down and spray the heck out of my revolver the cylinders , barrel inside and out, I wipe any spray off of grips right away but then let it soak about 20-30 min and run a brush down barrel and cylinders and then wipe it all off with paper towels and patch until clean bore and cylinders then spray with Rem oil and put a oil patch through it.. Soaking it like that wont hurt anything will it. I think it takes less solvent and no spill's what do you all think. no contamination of solvent like Ive seen some dip the brush in the bottle.

I just take a Q tip and dip it in the bottle (no double dipping) and mop it into the chamber and bore. Let it set for a few minutes and start brushing. Spraying almost any of this stuff can be pretty wasteful. You really only need a few drops. Spraying the heck out of your revolver also means that some solvent will find its way into the action and wash off any lubricants and spraying it on the area around the grips will cause a lot of solvent to creep under them. If you're going to soak a gun down remove the grips. Just wipe and brush the fouling off. FWIW there are many products around now that are MUCH better than Remoil or Hoppe's. For many years all I have ever used is a bottle of CLP, an M16 brush, a bore brush, and Q tips and pipe cleaners to clean guns. Wipe up all of the solvent and apply a thin coat or oil/rust protectant.

yea I removed the grips, just wondered what was best way to get solvent on gun revolvers get pretty dirty compared to everything else, Tried the q-tips but just usually used a patch over end of bottle saturated it and scrubbed it down thought the spray seemed easier. What do you all think of frog lube and best way to use it.

I use a medicine dropper bottle and just drop some on the brush or patch after it is on the rod.
This is how I have always applied Hoppes#9 ... and several other things (like EEzox, Mineral Spirits, Denatured Alcohol) ... at least the ones that I do not keep in needle applicator bottles (MiliTec, PTFE, MoS2, Trichlo, MEK). ;)
