I've been trying to figure out what the difference is between these two lines of ammo. Specifically, I'm talking about the 60gr ballistic-tip ammo (available in FPD and LEO) and the 75gr OTM ammo (also available in FPD and LEO). From my research (which consists of a search on here and looking at the stats on boxes of 60gr ammo), I can see:

The labels are different
The cases are different (LE is brass, FPD is nickle-plated...steel? brass? unobtanium?)
The FPD is a little hotter than the LEO, at least in 60gr.

Is there any other difference between these two lines of ammo? Do they use the same bullets (in a given weight, of course)? Are they equally consistent in QC?

Anyone? Bueller?

Thanks,

Mike

Huh. As usual, I find something after I ask the question:

It looks like the differences are the case, powder and a crimped primer. The performance, however, is very comparable, at least in external ballistics. The test LE round is their 5.56 ammo using the T2 bullet, which is different from the OTM round used in the FPD ammo, but I think the "standard" LE 75gr round uses the same bullet as the FPD.

So, I wonder which of the heavier TAP rounds I should go with. I'm leaning towards the .223 75gr TAP-LE "standard" or "T1", but I'm not sure.

ETA: Nevermind the edit. Found it.

Assuming you have a 5.56mm chamber, I'd say the T2 is your best option. It has a higher muzzle velocity then the .223 loaded rounds, and thus will go farther and still fragment. It's also only 1 or 2 dollars more per box of 20 compared with the .223 loaded TAP and TAP FPD, so there's no major price difference.

I'm running a 5.56 chamber and a Wylde chamber. The added velocity is a nice plus...
