Hi all,
After perusing this forum and trying several different solutions to my primer plunger not coming up through the sub plate properly, disassembling the primer plunger assembly several times, and generally getting more than a little PO'd at my Hornady press, which I had purchased as an upgrade to the Lee equipment I had loaded a few thousand rounds on without bother, I finally discovered the problem. Powder and dirt had built up in the primer shuttle groove, keeping the primer shuttle from moving all the way forward. This resulted in the primer plunger being misaligned enough to not make it all the way through the sub plate, resulting in a high primer condition. Eventually the primer plunger couldn't even get past the shuttle itself and the system wouldn't prime at all. Backing off the shuttle on the upstroke, cleaning out the front curved mating surface of the shuttle, and making sure the shuttle was moving all the way forward after that cured the problem. I hope this helps some of you with this issue.
