I've been tinkering around with a load for my PRS rifle to come up with a pretty basic, reliable and consistent off the shelf / low brain damage "go to" load. In that process, I've got to what I think I'll stick with, but (as with all things perhaps) I started pondering bullet jump a little more after working up another load for another gun using a Berger pill and reading about jumping them which seem to be very jump tolerant.

With the 6.5CM using the Hornady 140g ELD M bullet, I'm limited to magazine length which is a COL of right about book length of 2.800, and I think factory match ammo measured just a tick longer at 2.810 or so. I can't go any longer due to mag loading and in my rifle, these were jumping about .050" or so. In my load development, I ran my selected charge playing with seating depth to tune the load in .005 increments and ended up at 65 thousands off the lands. I however only tested from max mag length jump (~55 thousands) out to 80 thousands off the lands. Groupings varied from one to the other and like I said, I ended up back at 65 as those grouped pretty consistently right around .5 MOA and had an SD of 7 while running ~2750 fps across the chronograph. All numbers I'm reasonably pleased with.

Purely curious for mental floss and nothing more, has anyone had luck jumping more than a country mile with the 140g ELD M bullet? Worth the time to run some 90, 95's, or 100 thousands (or more) off the lands to see how they shoot, or stick with good enough? You read random guys who had luck jumping bullets 100+ 125, 150 thousands to the lands and figured if anything, it'd make a good conversation if anything.

Any luck with the 140's jumping further than 85 or 90 off the lands? Any experience on how jump tolerant they seem to be?

As always, input is much appreciated from THR community.

Thanks. I've seen those, and familiar with Eric's reloading methods.

My question was more specific to anyone on this forum having success jumping the Hornady eldm's out past 90 or 100 thousands.
