I can only say that a very very nice 6" M66-2 (not P&R) I would say easy 98% condition sat and sat and sat at a shop near me for $549 and only finally sold when they marked it down to $499 and threw in 2 boxes of ammo. No box or papers or tools, however, but except for the faintest of turn lines it looked unfired.
I've also been seeing more Model 10 police trade revolvers, more recent ones with MIM parts, teardrop cylinder releases, and Hilary Holes, at a couple shops and they were priced around $300-320. That's really a YIKES price imho.
I too believe J&G will have no problem selling these to people who can't get them any other way and yes, they ain't makin' them no more, and comparing it to a modern S&W is comparing apples to pineapples.
