House speaker Hastert under investigation

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives,
Dennis Hastert, is under investigation by the
FBI, which is probing corruption in Congress, ABC News reported on Wednesday.

ABC, citing high level Justice Department sources, said information implicating Hastert was developed from convicted lobbyists who are now cooperating with the government.

Part of the investigation involves a letter Hastert wrote three years ago, urging the Secretary of the Interior to block a casino on an Indian reservation that would have competed with those of other tribes.

Hastert's Press Secretary told ABC in a statement: "We are not aware of this." Hastert's spokespeople were not immediately available for comment.

Another nail in the Republican coffin. Look for the Democrats to regain control of both houses of Congress this year and the White House in 2008.

And the sad thing is that they have done all the damage themselves. They've had years to implement the conservative agenda they promised voters, yet have failed to do squat. Scandal after scandal involving Republican lawmakers. They are dead meat come November.

Course after reading Donkey Cons, the Dems sure don't have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to corruption.

Indian Casino's seem to me to be corrupt Mafia like run operations. They rake in billions and thir "People" live in poverty on reservations. Something is not right with this operation. They also use alot of money on bribes or lobbying to keep their exclusive monopoly from other TRIBES. Sounds like tribal warfare the modern way.:scrutiny.
