Ok, so this isn't the thread you think it is.
I stopped in an antique shop after work today and they had a whole pile of Olin and Remington marked .45ACP cardboard ammo boxes. The bad? It wasn't loaded ammo. The good? There were 50 empty pieces of brass in each. Thought it was kinda neat, but not $25/box neat.

They also had some original field manuals from WW2 and Korean War era... including the M1911 & M1911A1 from 1947, in really nice condition.
I talked myself out of buying it but I might have just changed my mind. Again.

I'd contemplated buying a box each of the brass. It's not something you see every day, but doesn't seem altogether rare. And it's not like the brass was recovered from Omaha Beach or Tarawa. It coulda even been fired as recently as 40 years ago (maybe?). I may go back and try to buy all the weapons manuals. Probably leave the field medicine and "how to dig a foxhole" there though.

They'd have to be some very specially marked and boxed brass for me to even slow down.

As to manuals, even for ME, it is difficult to tell some of the quality re-prints from authentic manuals anymore. Such is the quality of some G.I. gear reproduction. Pay accordingly. I know one scurrilous rascal the even fakes name, rank and organization then ages them. VERY not-cool.

Go figure that he's an attorney. Or, to liberally quote Shakepeare's Isabella; A *Perilous Mouth*.

Todd.
