I did Gabe Suarez' Interactive Gunfighting course and those little pellets really stung. Someone had brought a full auto model of some German assault rifle and we had a lot of fun with that. It occurred to me that applying that full auto airsoft to someone's face, especially if they had no glasses, would tend to discourage the attacker just a little. (This if for people who can't get a real gun, not an alternative to a real gun)

How about a Black Powder revolver? There are also some high powered pellet guns out there but they are usually single shot.

NO, no, and no.

A paintball gun loaded with pepper balls might be a distant 2nd to a firearm for home defense. Good luck finding a company that will sell to a non-LEO.

pointy stick +1 also

No flame intended, but why would you want to defend your life or that of your family with a toy? you would be better served with a good ole louisville slugger.

it will give the robber a joke to tell when he robs and kills you and goes back to his cronies.

I would not trust my life to a "bluff"

Get a decent short sword or even a baseball bat. Much better if ever actually forced to use the weapon.

I have both in my house for home defence (in addition to the big sword, axe, chair, and shotgun.)

You'd be better off with a bat, stick, or tire iron. I'd rather have an E-tool than an airsoft gun. If you're going to use a weapon, it needs to be able to do serious damage.

"Never rely on a bluff."

This goes for actual defense w/ firearms, too. If forced to produce a weapon, I plan on firing until the threat is nonthreatening. Firearms are not magic icons any more than any other weapons.

I would just use my "mafia bat". It's a small, lightweight aluminum bat. Easy to swing and maneuver with. If you really want to do damage, get a wooded one and drive nails through it. If you want something less "evil" looking just glue some very rough sandpaper on the business end. It will tear up skin like you would not believe. :evil:

!!!warning!!!

i hawe an air-soft gun to.
its an german pistol kind of thing. Its funn but one iv shot my friend
in the face and tahnk god i hawent shoot in his glasses.

the bullet get thru the glass.

if il stand closer mi friend would look like a pirat. arrr....

thats why i think its good that this guns are aloud when ur 18-yo

There's a difference between Airsoft guns and real airguns. Some airguns have significant power, but Airsoft toys won't ever actually hurt a person unless you hit them in the eye.

Well, I believe Armalite makes an 'official' airsoft copy of the AR15, right down to the bayonet lug. So if the robber doesn't mind plastic pellets, give cold steel between the ribs. :evil:

I am kidding by the way, sheesh. If it's all you've got, use it, but only until you get something better. (Which should be pronto... :uhoh: )

I guess the airsoft as a last resort is better than nothing.

My neighbor has an AR airsoft. He shoots its in auto all the time. Cyclic rate I would guess is about 2-300 rounds per minute. These little 6mm hard pellets hurt like the dickens. Imagine about a 100 of those hitting your face. Would not make you a happy camper. Not to mention it would really put your eyes out.

Plus if all else fails, the airsoft can be used as a club. They are pretty heavy.

Me, I'd stick with Mr. OO buck.

Not to mention it would really put your eyes out.
That's kinda what I had in mind in the first place. Of course a full auto paint ball gun would be better, as would a black powder revolver (I forgot about those. Can someone with a criminal record legally posess a black powder gun?)

Im not sure about posessing one. I know you can buy through mail order without any license, background check or cool down period.

To my knowledge, the legal disqualifications federally for owning a firearm are:
felony;
violent misdemeanor (domestic);
habitual drug or acohol addict;
dishonorable discharge.

Once, my 5 year-old son hit me on the nose with a Wiffle Ball bat. It made my glasses fly off and my eyes started to water. Since plastic bats are lightweight and easy to obtain (not to mention that they don't scare the Sheeple), would they make effective self-defense tools? :scrutiny: :)
