While I'm waiting for my FFL to send his licence in, how about some pictures of your S&W Model 10s? You know, something to help me cope with the possibly week-long wait for a classy old gun to fuss with.

Come on, let's see 'em!

A couple more, but M&Ps. U.S. issue .38 Special, shipped 1943. Lend-lease New Zealand issue .38 S&W, shipped 1942.

Huge Model 10 fan here. I've don't have a digital camera, so I can't post pictures, and even if I could, my guns are either at the factory or still at the shop on layaway.

My first is a long-action transitional M&P with a 5" barrel. My gunsmith at the factory assures me that it looks gorgeous, but it is still in the midst of restoration. The other is a M10-9 parts gun made in 2002 by the Custom Shop for Lew Horton out pre-lock, pre-MIM parts. As it turns out, the gunsmith who is working on my M&P right now was one of three guys who built my M10!

I am sure you will be happy with your purchase. At a time when we often think we know better, the M10 still stands out as one of the greatest pistols ever.

here's a couple...

I couldn't get very good lighting, so the finish came out matte looking, but here's my new 10-7:

It's not P&R and the grips have go to go (have Osage Orange Ahrends on the way), but the gun is perfect, almost as NIB.

Here's a few. The top one is a M&P first model of 1899 -chambered for the new 38 Special
The next is from the early 1950s.
The bottom one was made in 1938-39

That's interesting, mec, how you got less than 40 fps faster out of the 6" bbl than the 4". Must be a pretty efficient load!

small charges of bullseye are like that. The chief benefit of a longer barrel is the extended sight radius when you are using this sort of load.

Here is the only Model 10 that I own(A 10-6)made in 1973! It belonged to a security guard who only carried it and it was hardly ever fired! I also favor the "Sleek" pencil barrel on these great("Classic"!)revolvers!:) :

I have removed the mint original S&W grips and have replaced them with the Herrett's "Shooting Master" grips(As shown in the following pictures):

Thank you all for those good photographs of a peice that defines the revolver. I didn't realize there were so many different ways it could look. But the same grace in all.
