I want a single stacked 9mm for summer and light duty carry, but most of all I am tired of waiting for Glock to come out with one.

I am looking at the Walther PPS in 9mm and wonder if it is safe to buy one now?

Of you that have a PPS, do you like it??

How does it shoot and recoil????

Have you had any problems with it?????

Would you buy another one??????

Any and all advise is welcomed.

Just bought one in .40 today.

My gunsmith uses it for his every day carry.. that was good enough for me.

No first hand experience yet but i have heard nothing but good, and a lot of it from folks who hate everything.:D

I just got back from shooting my little beauty (PPS 9mm).

I never cease to be amazed at how awesome this little gun is. Negligible recoil, amazing accuracy, almost perfect trigger, great size, and super comfortable, what more could a man want?

Don't think twice about it. Just get one, and you will see. I can't say enough good things about mine. I bought it used and it has never had a single issue.

You'll hear a people, who's brothers friend's aunts cousin had one, whine about it having problems (just like any other gun), but don't listen to them. The early ones had some bugs, but they seem to be worked out now. The only thing you hear about now, from actual owners, is people complaining that they bought one with the "H" disconnector, which has like a 10lb trigger pull as opposed to the 6lb normal pull. Just make sure you don't get stuck with the liberal edition, which are pretty uncommon, and you'll love it.

And yes, if I had a need for another one, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

When my Taurus 709 breaks i'll get one. I like the way they both feel. They both fit my hand as they say like a glove. They are super easy to carry. Thin is one of the most important dimensions in gun carrying comfort. I've never shot the Walthers but i can project that they would be wonderful.

I know a smith at a local shop who swears by his 709. Not because it's a Taurus or because it's reliable, but he's really thrilled by the size and ease of carry. Plus, he's probably fixed his so it's going to be reliable ,Taurus or not.

If I didn't have so many 9's, i'd get one. I actually don't want one in 40. My Glock 22c is about as close to a handful as i want for a range shooter.

Purchased mine about 2 or 3 months ago - .40 Cal. Ran 250 rounds Win-fmj. Also did 20 rounds of Hornady FPD just to see; pricey - but one needs to know before depending on it. No problems at all. Accuracy at 25 yards is amazing. I hand made a couple of custom close-fit holsters, and I am now using it as my carry. BTW - the recoil is easily manageable; not appreciably much different from my beloved old S&W 3904.
A few weeks ago I traded my Taurus Mill-Pro 9mm for a new PT-709. After 200 rounds, I was impressed. My wife was too, and will probably take that one away from me. Best to all.

FYI...just a comment on PPS holsters..which are not so easy to find.

I have a Don Hume "001" Pocket Holster for my PPS, and I understand they are about to start selling their "002" pocket holster with the panel for the PPS. (So, I pre-ordered one....the DH 001 grips the PPS quite securely, unlike some pocket holsters that are too slippy for my taste.

Robt.

I have a question for the PPS 9mm and .40 owners. I have never fired a .40 and have read that it has a "snappy recoil" vs. the "heavy pushy" recoil of the .45. How does PPS feel firing the .40? My KelTec PF9's recoil to me is VERY manageable compared to what many reviewers call a "snappy" kick.

I presently own a Sig P239 in 40cal and have nothing but praise for the great little pistol. It carries well, has minimal recoil, accurate and is very reliable. Yet!! here I am considering getting another 40cal for no good reason except I would like another 40cal that brings to the table everything the 239 does except in a little different package.:D I haven't seen a Walther PPS yet but will look for one at the GS this weekend. I want a DA/SA action and don't care whether it's plastic or alloy as long as the trigger is decent and you can see it's sights. CZ triggers and sights suck as far as I'm concerned so they're out. Some of the double stack pistols are too thick for my hands so I have to be careful there and I don't want a FS pistol either. OK....I'm narrowing down the field of eligibles.
Some of you say the PPS in 40 recoil is snappy, soft, manageable, etc. which proves you gotta shoot it yourself to see what the recoil is like. lol
Anyway, I appreciate your comments regarding the PPS and am looking forward to getting my hands on one.

shot mine for the first time yesterday

Love it. Mine is a forty and is a blast to shoot. I was amazed at the accuracy of this thing, given the size and design..

After I get a couple more hundred rounds through it it will be my EDC and i want be looking for anything else in that category.

Some may doubt this but frankly I feel very little difference in the 9 and the 40 PPS. I also have a PF9 and I feel the PPS in either caliber is less "snappy" than the very lighweight, by comparison, PF9.

I hope this doesn't hinder your desire for the awesome PPS, but the PPS is DAO (no decocker). It's a very slick 6.1lbs, but never the less it's DAO.

For me, it's the best DAO trigger on any semi that I've shot. Especially in the SC realm...

Read recent posts - my comments:
Mr_Toad: the "slippy-one-size-fits-4-others-maybe" holsters are exactly why I make my own. Back in the '80's a business venture required (among other things) that I learn the basics of leather crafting, including wet-forming techniques and construction. I spent a few years making equine tack components and gun belts. So I have my own ideas about how things should be designed, and work.

JimK: first rule is... one can never have too many handguns. As far as recoil with different calibers... I know it sounds equivocal, but if you feel good wit 9mm, you will easily adjust to .40. However, I believe one must be mindful to compare recoil - as well as all other "shooting" attributes - apples to apples. Yes, utimately you just do have to try them for yourself. Enjoy!

For whoever mentioned single-stack-limited-round mags: aside of the never-ending quantity vs. firepower consideration, my bus-partner (who insists on a Kimber .45 ultra-carry) has said for years, "If you can't stop 'em with one of the first six you got; the last 12 won't matter.

Best to all

I've had my 9mm PPS since January, and probably have 1,500 rounds through it. Love it, carry it every day. Everybody I hand it to on the range to try is impressed with it.

Had one about a year ago for about 50 rounds worth, thats when my wife asked to shoot it, haven't gotten it back since. She tells me it's a great gun. I have to believe her because she shoots it good. Recoil is very manageable. She carrys it in a Don Hume JIT Slide holster. She lets me shoot it from time to time and it is very accurate, although for me it just doesn't point well. I read something about it having a European sight picture? Alls I know is when I naturally point it I have to tweak my wrist down a little to get it on target. It's been 100%, great little gun.
