Mine are in a safe. Long guns standing on buttstock. Handguns stored lying flat in Cabelas silicone treated knit gun socks.

I ask because on another forum a guy had an unfired M 29-2 Smith where the barrel turned "plum."

I have heard, in the past, that sometimes improper storage materials can cause such a phenomenon.

Any responses?

Same as you. Pesonally I feel people should lock guns up IF THEY WANT TO when they are not home. I have known several people that have had guns stolen out of their home:barf:

I have most of my guns in my safe. My sharps wont fit so its in a diffrent location. My 1911 rides with me in my waist band or my gym bag it is never really put away.

Secret climate controlled bunker located in an undisclosed location and reached via mole-machine.

The guns are stored in a zero "g" bubble inside a nitrogen filled chamber and kept cooled to near absolute zero. Ammunition is in another identical chamber nearby.

Seriously though, decent gunsafe mounted in an inconspicuous location that would make it additionally difficult to "bust the safe".

Some of the more expensive (inherited) ones, at a relative's, are in a fire/waterproof lock box with DampRid in it and in plastic bags with paper towels. I really need to get rid of the latter two storage items. I'd like to get some of those copper-lined gun bags for them.

The other two, worth $250 and $300, are just stored in a holster or cheap (but decent) rifle bag when necessary. Otherwise they are carried, used, or hidden in the house, fully loaded.

I spray all of my guns in an American Security Safe. I spray them with EEZOX and have never had a problem.

My EDC is sitting on the kitchen counter in front of me. DW's is in her purse. Except for the BUG in the basement everything else is in the RSC, bolted to the wall, in the Katrina closet. Humidity is rarely an issue in Colorado

Stored off site when we are on vacation (except for the ones that come along for the ride).

And yes, schlupping the collection around is a bit of a PITA but better safe than sorry.

I have lockable storage at home, too.
