How close is you nearest HD gun right now?

I am hosed if I needed one. I am about 7 miles from my HD weapon. Oh well. At least the wife is safe, that is what really matters anyways.

At home it is usually within 5 feet.

When I purchased my 642, I determined I would keep it within arm's reach at all times. So far only the swimming pool has defeated me. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

LBS

In my jeans pocket. Low Budget Shooter^^^ I would consider a Dry Pak with either the 642 or an NAA mini with a holster grip in it in the pocket of your swimming trunks. Not at all a quick access solution but it's the best you can do when submerged underwater. It's my solution when swimming, fishing and kayaking in nearby rivers where I may encounter 2 legged predators of the tweeker variety.

Well I'm at school now so i have nothing but a pocket knife at the moment. When I'm at home, I have my G19 on my hip, one 870 loaded in my bedroom upstairs, and another 870 loaded downstairs. While sleeping one of the 870's is under the bed and the G19 is in a drawer with a flashlight. So pretty much always within arms reach. I just feel uncomfortable if I'm on the other side of the apartment unarmed.

At this exact moment- about a mile away.

You see, I have one gun. One gun I use for everything, and it happens to be a handgun. I have one magazine for it. It is loaded with ten rounds total, of CCI Blazer, aluminum case, 115 gr, FMJ, and yes there is one in the chamber.

*shrug* I don't worry about it.

I was born into and spent numerous decades in a hi-risk industry. My concerns then, are the same ones I have now: Entering, exiting a structure, vehicle, and answering the door.

Wear the darn gun! - Tom Givens

Even so, Mr. Givens understands there are times when one cannot wear a gun. i.e. NPE's

Since I was mentored, trained and all, to pay attention, not go where trouble is, leave if trouble shows up, and to have mindset, skill sets to deal with trouble, with whatever "toolset" may afford itself, this is how I choose to conduct myself in my ADL's.

NPE: Non permissive to [weapon] environment
ADL: Activities of daily living.
Toolset: the brain is the main toolset, with it, I have options of improvised, expedient tools along with the usual tools we discuss on gun fora.

My father in-law and mother in-law had guns only 20 feet away but could not reach them during a home break in 19 years ago. They were both killed by an idiot with a tire tool for no apparent reason other than the guy was just plain
evil.

Now a Kel-Tec P32 or P3AT is in my hip pocket all the time. At home a Glock 34 is beside the recliner and an 870 behind the front door. In the truck a Glock 19 is under the seat in addition to the P32 in my pocket.

Paranoid? No, just prepared because it can happen to anyone anytime.

I have a loaded 12 Ga. about 50' away in the bedroom closet, and an extremely narrow-minded 95 lb. Blackmouth Cur laying on the couch.

Houser, my most since condolences; your story is a vivid reminder of why many of us wear or have a firearm within a hand's reach while at home or work and why more of us should.

Two shotguns, a Rem 870 and a Baikal SXS, both 12 ga, in this metal gun cabinet next to my side of the bed. I put the key in the lock whenever I go to bed, and the key goes with me (with my car and house keys attached) when I leave. It's mostly used to keep little nieces and nephews out when they're over, and maybe snooping visitors.

I also have a couple revolvers, a Ruger GP100 and a Colt Official Police Mk III, in a small digital safe on my nightstand, but I no longer do the key thing with them since I got the larger gun cabinet for my shotguns. The Rem 870 would be my go-to gun for any breakins. The revolvers would be just for backup if I would have time to open this safe after getting the shotgun out. Also my wife knows the combination to this safe as well if I'm not around.

It´s not loaded since i do not live in the US.
But arounds here theý´re not common, and i doubt
anyone confronted with it will just continue with their plan :)

... i know Longstick-Do and it´s perfect for Club-Do, too.

I do not feel underarmed.

The thickness of one side of a blue jean pocket and one side of a Robert Mika Pocket Holster. That's it, about 1/8" away.

Sitting at my office desk so the MP40 is about 6 inches away in the desk drawer. Loaded with 16 rounds of 155gr Federal Hydra Shock JHP ready to rock and roll.
