How concealable is a Glock 26?

Yepper, hold on to a Glock and it won't misfeed.
I have carried my 26 in the front pocket of a pair of Dockers before.
It wasn't comfy nor all that concealed.
I generally carry in a Blade-Tech IWB with a J-Hook belt securing device and I also use a Milt Sparks leather IWB.
The Blade-Tech works better the Sparks is more comfy and both will conceal the gun under a light T-Shirt if you buy a size or two larger than normal.
Don't worry, it's all the rage in fashion these days.

I don't use a tuckable holster since I can't carry at work (wouldn't be able to do it in scrubs anyway) and I don't tuck my shirts in when I'm off (when I'm armed 100% of the time that I'm not locked in the house). My 26 rides in a Hume H715M clipon IWB and I find it very concealable. I use the standard flat baseplate on the mag in the gun to minimize printing (spares wear Glock factory +2 baseplates now that it's legal to do so - in my state anyway).

Mine goes in my front pocket in an UM pocket holster Easily conceals for me

The only drawback of the 26/27/33 is the thickness (same as any other 9mm Glock). Other than that, the shootability, reliability, corrosion resistance, accuracy, and ease of maintenance make it the ultimate CCW, IMHO.

I carry one almost everyday (the G27) in a Galco "Glove" Ankle Holster or Sparks Versa Max 2. I love it!

Anyone tried a glock 26 in a smart carry? how comfortable is it? how concealed is it? how quickly can it be drawn?

thanks,

IMO&E, it's too thick to conceal well. (edited to clarify: in a Smartcarry. I carry a G26 IWB every day. But can't hide it in a Smartcarry.)

May be different for you. I'm a girl, after all! In women's wear, even loose, pleated pants are snugger-fitting than most guys' styles. So Smartcarry in general doesn't work all that well for me. Add in the thickness of a Glock and, well, it wasn't pretty.

thats weird. Kimber says their 1911's are 1.28" wide, glock says their glock 26 is 1.18" wide. Whose lying?

I think the thickness of Glocks is exagerated. They look blocky so that is the perception. I carry my G 30 IWB with no problem and I am 5'9" 190. The G 30 is thicker than the G 26. I've been thinking of getting a G 26 for pocket carry, but I have a Kel-Tek P-11 & P3AT that I currently use for pocket carry, so I haven't been in a hurry. The P-11 is only slightly thinner and shorter than the G 26, but I believe the G 26 grip is slightly shorter. I have no trouble at all carrying my P-11 in the front pocket of Docker style pants, and the P3AT is for jeans or as a BUG, sometimes in a neck kydex rig. I think the G 26 is a great compromise of firepower, reliability, and concealability and a great choice for CC. Good luck in whatever you choose.

*shrug*

Dunno what the calipers say. I know what my mirror said ...

Oh Pax, I'm sure a 2" thick gun stuck down your dress made you look just fine ;)

Anyways, sign me up for the "Length Good, Width Bad" bandwagon.
Traded mine +$100 for a LNIB Colt delta Elite :D

I wish glock stopped messing around and came out with a single stack 9 the size of the P-11. I'd get a kahr or kel-tec but I hate the triggers and I don't trust them.

The reason I HAVE a G26 is that my Kahr P9 was SO troublesome the company eventually replaced it. Not wanting to continue in my unintended role of "beta tester" for a second polymer Kahr, I traded it for the G26 which, while not as neat a package, actually DOES work.

I'm suprised nobody mentioned the Glock 36. It's a single stack .45, so it's nice and slim for CCW if you prefer the Glock.

I don't know why Glock doesn't produce other single stack pistols. I'm sure they would sell well.

I pocket carry a Glock 26 very frequently. It's pretty large for pocket carry, but easily doable if you have pants with big enough pockets. The Columbia brand shorts called "Cliff Lakes II" have great pockets for this. :)

I carry a G22 and/or a G23 daily. When I want deepest concealment, I carry the G23 IWB in a Comp-Tac Pro Undercover. When I know I'm not gonna have to be bending over, reaching up, climbing ladders over people, etc., I carry the G22 OWB in a Tucker HF-1.

If I need to go tuckable, I carry in a C-TAC. I've carried the G22 this way a lot without any problems. Just blouse the shirt.

I normally wear Jeans and a Dickies button-down shirt with a flat hem. The tropical print shirts work very well also, but the Dickies shirts are more my style. Dark colors and/or prints are important in a cover garment. I'm 5'8", 200#.

It's important that you use a good gun belt with any holster for these guns.

I see a lot of people wearing untucked, flat-hemmed button-down shirts lately, and I'm sure not all of these people are carrying guns.

I realize this thread is very old, and was just recently brought back to the top. I post this in case anyone reading this for the first time is considering a 9mm or .40 Glock and is intimidated by the thickness.

People wear so much on their belts these days that a slight print on your waist won't raise an eyebrow.

I've recently become somewhat intrigued by the Kel-Tec mouse guns, but I'm gonna hold off getting one until the PF9 is released. I like the idea of a 9mm pocket pistol, but I want something bigger than a 380, thin, and reliable.

The G-26 is very concealable, I used to own a G-27 which is the same size just in .40 Cal. I've owned many a Glock, but have switched over to 1911's. That is not to say, I will never own a Glock again.

I think you gotta try it and see. For me if I'm carrying IWB in a holster with cant, the difference in grip lenth of the g19 and g26 makes a pretty decent difference in printing. I'd wear the g26 under a tshirt only, but not the 19. Some people find thin makes more of a difference on them.

There is no way to rate concealability. It really depends on how you have to dress and how big you are.

I taught a CCW class the other day, wearing jeans and a bowling shirt. About fifteen minutes into the class I started to take guns off, open the actions, and place them on the table. I took out the following:

Springfield 5" 1911
Kimber 5" poly 1911
S&W 6" 686
S&W 1917
S&W 5906
Glock 26
Autagua .32

Nobody had been any the wiser. (I love doing that, it gets a great reaction out of the class).

Could I have played a game of volley ball in that? Probably not. :) But if you put a little thought into it, and don't have to wear tightly fitted clothing, a Glock 26 is a piece of cake to conceal.

I found out very quickly that the G-27 (same size as the G-26, except its a
.40 S&W) rode best in a Galco belt-slide holster with thumb break; at least
here in the HOT, HUMID climate of the southeastern U.S.A. In the winter
months, it could be easily concealed in a jacket pocket; but its just too
large for concealed carry when dressed in shorts and a tee shirt~! :D

Concelaling Glock 26 - Kel-Tec P11 comparison

It depends on the shorts. The Glock 26 disappears in the pocket of cargo shorts (or longs) year round in a Nemesis holster.

It weighs ~six oz more that a Kel-Tec P11, and the grip is but 1/8" thicker, which I do not find a serious disadvantage. The Glock is twice as accurate and twice as easy to shoot as the P11 which has a horrible trigger (3/4" in travel, 8.5# pull); one has to constantly practie wth the P11 to remain familiar with the trigger- I'm somewhat afraid I might not sucessfully discharge it in an emergency. I own both weapons.

(A handy person can greatly improve the P11 trigger).

The P11 s excellent for concealment and close-in defence, with the caveat I mentioned (some people love it). The Glock 26 is far preferable if you need to take a quick, or carefully aimed shot, or use at a longer range. I'd rather be prepared for all situations. I have no reservations about being able to perform with the Glock.

I have a Glock 26 and it is extremely concealable especially with my IWB "Bare Asset" holster from Highnoon Holsters. It has a 15 degree forward cant which really helps with concealment by placing the butt of the gun right up next to my body. Here in GA we must always carry in a holster. It is state law. One thing I would not do is put a 33 round mag in it while I was carrying. That is a dead giveaway. :)
