When I lived in New York City and was considering becoming a firearms owner -- I remember dealing with the permit bureau that told me I was going to have to get a magazine blocked for any firearm that held more than 5 rounds. Thankfully I moved to the suburbs and don't have to deal with it.

I had my SKS out last night and it got me wondering how a gunsmith would actually do it.

100+ views and no one knows how they pin an sks mag to 5 rounds? Are there any Canada people here? I hear their SKSs are pinned to 5.

Simple. A block placed between the arm and the floorplate, then rivited or welded to the floorplate, will prevent more than 5 rounds from being loaded. It would work exactly like a plug in a shotgun magazine.

You can also drill at the 5-round point under the follower and put a roll-pin through the box.

Some locals might require it to be tack welded in place to be legal.

Check your local laws.
