I've been carrying a G2 Nitrolon Surefire in my coat pocket. I know it's a cheap light, but I don't want to scratch my lens. Should I case it? Is there a cap for it? How do y'all carry yours?

I use a $3 surplus map case. It is sectioned off with different size loops. One fits my cell phone, another the Scorpion with room left for a small first aid kit, spare batteries, film case with coin money, wallet, penlight, marker, Cold Steel folder and Leatherman Crunch. I use this mostly for work and hiking. Keeps everything close at hand and well protected. I have seen belt holders for the lights but most are aimed at LE use.

If you like it in your pocket, I'm fairly certain you could find a Butler Creek flip-up scope cover for it. (I've got one for my UTL). Just don't turn it on with the cover down, or it will melt the cover.

They also fit in most nylon mag pouches (blackhawk, SpecOps, etc) which run $10 or so, and even horizontal mounted ones are available.

I've got an Uncle Mike's holder specifically for this type of light, but it doesn't work well with my Streamlight Scorpion because the rubber coating slows down the draw quite a bit.

I've been carrying a G2 Nitrolon in my leftside pants pocket for over a year with no cover. The lens appears to still be in near pristine condition. (a tiny bit of pocket lint, no scratches.)

I've been considering a universal mag pouch for mine too, but in the last month of bare pocket carry, I've had no problems.

sorry wrong side of belt. This is from On Scene Tactical and is $20 including shipping. Light is Surefire E2E HA

If it won't clip onto my pockets then it's useless to me. I have enough problems getting into my pockets with just a cell phone and a gun; no need having more stuff on my belt.

E2 clips on the left butt cheek pocket.

To answer the question, I generally carry a Sure Fire E2 in my pocket lens down, or clipped to my pocket.

mercop,

Very nice rig. I like your selection. The Cold Steel knife is an excellent backup.

Very nice.

I just ordered a light holster from Talon Tactical Holsters I will let you all know what I think once I have a chance to try it out.:D

I keep a Streamlight Scorpion in my front pants pocket, lense up. Its easy to get to and the light is protected. The only problem isnt with the light, but with my pants. Eventually it wears a small hole in the pant leg.

There are varous dedicated carriers made in kydex that work on your belt. A quick on and off option I have used is a Fobus combo mag/light carrier which is approx 20.00. I have also used a Fobus single mag carrier and just put my G2 switch down into the pouch. The ridges of the G2 provide good friction without it being too hard to get out. The ridges also stop the light switch from bottoming out and turning itself on.

mercop, how much was that light holster? That's exactly what I've been looking for.

Anyone else know of any horizontal flashlight holders?

Thanks,
