Just wondering how you guys carry your extra .44 mag rounds in the woods. Anyone here use a 2" pistol belt to carry your rig? If so, are there any pouches or cartridge slides that will fit it? Thanks for your help.

You need extra rounds??:p

Seriously, I like the MTM ammo wallet. Great for CCW too. Speedloaders are OK but how many times do you need to put 6 rounds in at once??

I have a belt(western style holster/belt) with 18 loops sewn in (3 extra cylinders). It was done by Bob Mernickle, very nice custom work. I don't like to carry any more than that due to the ammos sheer weight factor. No less than that in case I get in trouble or stranded for a while.

If you could be more specific about your particular needs, I may be ov more help.

I drop an H.K.S. speed loader in a pocket.

Since I'm now carrying a .44 magnum more frequently than a .357 magnum, and since Bianchi doesn't make speed strips for this caliber, I've been thinking about finding a piece of plastic tubing the right diameter and slitting it lengthwise, then adding some holes to hold the rounds still.

I carry extra ammo for my Mtn Gun. I use a speedloader on a 1 3/4" belt held in place by an old DeSantis Split Six speedloader holder (HKS)then a leather belt slide with six loops. I can either recharge with a full cylinder or I can load one at a time.

This is the set up I wore for the last 5 years that I worked plainclothes in a Sheriff's Office.Back in the late 80s. Still meets my woods bummin needs.;)

My44 mag rifle holds 10+1 I figure that enough I don't carry a pistol in woods. If I was to carry my 29 I would have 1 speed loader or 6 loose in pocket.

Extra Rounds

I fashioned a home-made version of a Bianchi speed strip using a plastic container lid (in my case, a planter's peanuts lid).

I carry two HKS speedloaders in my jacket pocket which is large. It has worked well for me although I must say (with practiced immodesty) I have never, never needed them.:neener:

Carrying bulk rounds

Hi Estela216,

We just got belt bulk packs in. The attached picture shows it with 50 .38 Specials in it. I'm not sure how many .44s that converts to, because I don't have a .44, but I expect it would be alot.
The Belt Pack fits belts upto 2 inches and has a velcroflap closure. It accordions to accept more rounds and lay flatter with fewer rounds.
It should be on the Ankle Pocket website in about 2 weeks (it takes that long for my web master to get things posted.) Check it out under accessories.

Be Well,

Scarface

When I roam around

I only take 6 rounds (loaded in the gun) out with me. When I hunt
(on my property), I double up with a Winny trapper in either .357 or .44..
;)

Since I have a Desert Eagle .44 I use an extra magazine to carry extra rounds when packing a .44 revolver. It really works well and is flat instead of round like a speedloader. If you shoot a .45 acp revolver you can do the same with a magazine from a .45 semi-auto. With a little practice you will be surprised how fast you can reload a revolver from a semi-auto magazine.

Another MTM ammo wallet user here. Works great. Speed loaders don't work in my .44 mag - a Ruger Superblack Hawk!
