I shoot have shot tens of thousands of pistol (Bullseye) and only tens of rifle.

But I wish I was a rifleman. Maybe a "grass is greener" thing, but I think I would be cool to get my CMP Distinguished Badge in Service Rifle.

But getting ranges of 300 and 600 yards is tough! (Although Scarborough Fish and Game has that distance, so I might have to start working on it.)

Also as has been said, ammo prices are quite a bit higher in rifle than in pistol.

And walking to your 25 yard or 50 yard target is a lot easier than a 200 or 300 yard target! (I wish there were more places that had those sounds detectors at your target that score automatically. I was at Camp Perry in the new air pistol range, and they had them! That would be my lazy man's dream)

Like most, I started with a 22. Went in service and was top shot (rifle) in my flight (B-52 Tailgunner). Had to qualify with a 38 as an aircrewman and really liked the hand gun. Tried out for the base pistol team and made it. Mainly shot hand guns after that for the next 30 years.

A couple of years ago a buddy got me back to rifle shooting and I haven't shot one of my autos or revolvers for over a year. Shot my first F Class Open (1100 meters) a week ago and fell more in love. Finished 11th out of 32with my pre 64 model 70. I'm ordering a new 260.

No question, I am predominately a handgunner. I own a few rifles, but my skill level with them is only a slight fraction of what is it with pistols. Shotguns.. well, I have one and that's about all I can say about them.
