How do you feel about grips made of buffalo bone and carving?

I have a plan to made an grips from buffalo bone and carving by hand, but i want to know what the people in USA feel about them?

This is my buffalo bone

So, after 2 days...i have 4 pair unfinished pistol grips from buffalo bone yellow,white ,black horn and white horn.

I think i need some people to help me to test them when finished... .

I think you could corner a small niche market with a product like that. Here in North Dakota, buffalo are a symbol of days long gone, pioneers, indians, western expansion, and expansive praries. They were an animal that sustained life for indians and earlier pioneers, who were able to use almost every part of the carcass.

If you had a table at a gun show, you'd likely make a few bucks, at least around here. Have you conducted any tests for durability or to see how they hold up?

Edited to add: Your location didn't appear while I was posting, but now that I see it I'm pretty sure we're talking about a different animal. However, if you're selling buffalo bone grips I don't think the American customer would be likely to ask too many questions.

I think that we would call these "Water Buffalo" bones in the USA. The horns are commonly used in Asia for weapon mountings from small knife handles to Japanes sword fittings.

I know that the horns are very durable but I don't know how strong the bones are. You may need to stabilize the horns in some sort of liquid plastic to fill-in and seal the pores so it doesn't become brittle over time.

So i have another idea:mixed, carve ,embossed,inlaid with mother of pearl to horn,inlaid bone to black horn etc.

Watter buffalo bone very durable and stable.it same as ivory not different , but it very hard to product grips than ivory !That why you don't see grips made from bone in market!

Also,ivory just have 1 color and 1 kind vein but buffalo bone have many kind .Important: Bone cheaper than ivory and can produce many many and easy to import to US or EU as full product .

-1 and 2 by emery-paper (400 and 800 emery-paper)

I think there is certainly a market for the buffalo bone grips. Cosmetically they look very good. If there is a way to stablize them - perhaps resin soaking under great pressure - they might be more durable.

I would like to see precisely made buffalo horn grips for Browning High Powers. I ordered a set from Eagle Grips mail order to europe back in the late 80s; they fit so badly I sent them back. Never heard back from Eagle Grips so I did not know whether they got lost in the mail or otherwise.

Have you made any revolver Grips ? If so what about a Vaquaro Birds Head
in the Maerble with a matching set for a conventional Vaquero Grip.
I would be interested in purchasing.

I have Camel Bone or Buffalo on 4 of my 1911s and love the grips. I currently
have Buffalo on the 2 Stainless Vaquros I usually shooot in SASS Shoots but I think your
Marble Grips would look great on the Stainless.
