Ok, so I'm getting dressed to go to Walmart. I'd done a little bit of experimentation with my rig, but not much, as it only arrived a few days ago. So, I throw on the mag holder, flashlight, cell phone, leatherman, two EDC knives and my Glock in a Don Hume IWB. :(
I feel like fricken Batman. WTH? Where do you put all the stuff? I've at least got more belt area than some. I don't really know how guys with a 36" waist do it.
Went to Walmart. Nobody even looked at me. As usual.
I definitely need a nice gun belt. Had to keep adjusting my pants.
Kinda cool, though. A t-shirt and an open short sleeve printed shirt, and my Glock 22 disappears.

How do I do it?

Delete the knives, leatherman, and flashlight.

Good call on a decent gunbelt; I wouldn't even try packing my firearm without mine (1 Milt Sparks, 1 Gunner's Alley).

You need to customize your load for what might happen. I understand that anything might happen, but at the same time, you can't prepare for everything without loading yourself down with mucho extra weight. When I carry, I usually have my 1911 in a Milt Sparks VM2 on my strong side, with 2 mags in a Craftsman cell phone pouch (the PERFECT size; try one yourself; for $6 you can't afford not to) on the weak side (for balance as much as anything else). I can carry all day like that without feeling overloaded.

Trust me, its not easy.
First of all get a GOOD STIFF GUNBELT, makes a world of difference, I use a GALCO.
I usually carry a small flashlight, pistol, cell phone and keys.

Experiment.

keep your pistol IWB, and put the rest of your bat stuff in a fanny pack.

enjoy.

OK, I think I see where you are coming from. I'm working with a 35" waist, so I buy 36" pants.

Wearing the relaxed fit I can IWB my carry, have a spare mag and Bucktool on my belt, 2-3 knives in my pockets and not feel weighed down or print.....t-shirt or tank top under a denim shirt.

Whether I just got off the bike or got out of the car, I usually find this works.

Try changing knives and carrying the cell phone another way.....other than that I would say endeavor to minimize.... ;)

Initially - it can seem one is loaded up! Have to get used to the feel of it all.

I have a decent belt - SIG lives 3.30 in a nice leather K&D OWB rig . Leatherman Wave is opposite side and sometimes E1e is clipped next to that - for now tho cos of pocket options in short pants - it's in outer left patch pocket.

Cell phone goes in left patch pocket of Smith & Alexander vest - right patch pocket of vest holds NAA mini.

Top breast pocket of vest holds my pipe and baccy! :p

Oh forgot - Buck Mayo is clipped into left main pants pocket.

Uh, along with the gunbelt I've got these things called pockets ;)

The light, knives and cell usually wind up in pockets, I wouldnt think of trying to get it all on the belt. Think of dressing in "stories", the first floor being the pants pockets, second floor is the belt and so forth. Unfortunately, since the last century my mezzanine has been expanding, so to speak, so I have a little more belt space than during my aerodynamic days

What kills me is my PDA, without which I am lost. It is just bulky enough to not fit anywhere.

Check out some of the Maxpedition pouches. I have and use several. They enable some of the stuff to be consolidated into one area, saving some space.

Er, ahh, what you'ens gots to do is gain about 30 lbs (beer will do that nicely...and steak and twice baked will help). Then you can have a 40" belt and voila! You gots 4 more inches to hang stuff from. :D

Ahh, thats what ive been doing wrong :banghead:

That is your problem, you are getting dressed up to go to Wal-Mart :neener:

I can't hlep with the pistol, can't carry one of those yet. But when I got the knife, flashlight, PDA, cell, keys, insulin pump and testing supplies, I run out of room. You gotta layer your pockets. Non immediately needed stuff goes to the bottom (stuff you won't be needing to pull out in a hurry). More readily accessible stuff goes at the top. Things get shuffled around to make them fit, except for the knife which is always clipped into the right pocket, and the SureFire, which goes upright oin the left pocket.

It helps if you can do things like clip keys and phones to the outside of pockets.

lol...

I cheat. I carry a purse.

On the belt is the gun, in a Comp-Tac C-Tac holster. If I'm wearing a pair of RR5.11s, I drop an extra mag in the "mag pocket." I carry keys in one front pocket, a phone in the other. Wallet in a rear pocket. Knife clipped in the front pocket. I also clip a flashlight in the other front pocket, occasionally (when I'm going out at night.)

The purse (a Maxpedition Fatboy) carries the PDA, flashlight, checkbook, USB thumbdrive, Leatherman, pocket screwdriver set, cough drops, band-aids, business cards, 123 batteries, and other stuff, as needed.

The other stuff is often a gun (if I can't carry on-body) or BUG, digital camera, nalgene, candy bar (Take-5... mmmmm...), bunny (my daughter's stuffed bunny that she can't be without), spare diapers, a wind breaker, AR15 mags, juice pouches, boonie hat, FRS, lunch, etc.

The only thing I carry on my belt is my gun.

spare mag is in front left pocket (and only with my Kahr ... with my Steyr I usually don't pack a spare ... 10+1 should be enough for 99.999% of the extremely rare times I'd need it).

wallet in back right, keys in front right knife in front right (clipped to top edge of pocket).

cell phone either in hand, in shirt pocket ... sometimes in front left pocket with spare mag or hell, I'll just leave it in the car (I hate it anyway ... its for work or I wouldn't have one).

Get a good belt and good holster. I have a Don Hume for my Kahr MK9 that came with the gun ... I don't much like it (its a good holster, but its a strait drop and I prefer a cant) but I've got a COM DC Special on order with HBE :D

Hmm, let's see-

Gold Cup in Galco "Fletch" OWB, extra mag in an old Gerber Multi-Plier sheath opposite. CRKT M16-03Z clipped in back pocket, keys and small wallet in front pocket, cellphone in other front pocket. Yup, them pockets is right handy.

Fella's;

I'm with Zundfolge, in that the only thing on my belt is the gun. And, I also don't usally carry a spare mag. The cel phone is in a jacket pocket, do carry a decent folding knife in a front pants pocket.

It's sorta interesting, I'm a professional locksmith. Part of the job is unlocking cars at any hour of the night, in neighborhoods that frequently aren't 'gated'.
Situational awareness is worth any reasonable number of spare mags you'd care to name. Yeah, I carry a flashlight, but not in daylight hours, then it stays in the van. No, I didn't get into this business just last week either.

bleh. too much trouble. I just carry all that stuff in a little tote bag in my vehicle. The only thing I've always got on me is a folder.

For belts I have been happy with Ted Blocker products. He has good stuff at
good prices and he is close, in Tigard. Lots of good choices.

One thing I learned a while back from Ted was to have seven holes in the belt
and a bit closer together than the five holes in most belts. Gives a little better
fine tuning when loading up.

Ok, well. The folders are both in pockets, and the keys are clipped to a belt loop.
I definitely don't need to gain any weight. I'm already 50 lbs over "fightin' weight". And my "fightin' weight" is a lot more than most folks fat weight, lol!
I guess I'll just have to rearrange some stuff. I was carrying 3 mags, but can you blame me? They're Klinton mags.

Suspenders

A good carry belt is the foundation. After that a good pair of suspenders. All elastic & 1.5 wide. What ever covers the weapon covers the suspenders. You can keep your pants looser for easy access & presentation when needed. I am a real 34 (at waste line & not down under gut) so buy 36's for the needed room. Will carry 24-7. :) :) Carry 2 extra 10 rd mags for Kimber compac side by side in a Hoffner's minimal. Pepper in front of that & knife in front pocket. You should get used to it in a short time. ;) They that love liberty more than life die only once. They that fear death more than oppression die every time they close their eyes. Me.

No Spare Magazine?

A spare magazine is a must, not for 17 extra rounds, but rather for malfunction purposes, you need it when the first one is under a car! After being dragged out with force!

G19 in Glock belt slide (modified) spare G17 magazine on left side, Glock mag; holder. Surefire G2 in Glock 9 or .40 magazine holder you need to pour boiling water on the pouch, then force flash light in it, lens first. $5.00 flash light pouch (tactical black!) works perfect.

Wilderness 1 1/2" instructor belt, same colure as pants. White tee shirt tucked in, one or two buttons fastened on denim, or "tourist" shirt Florida don’t you know. Benchmade right frontpocket.

The Glock belt slide and the two mag' pouches weigh nothing!

Keep safe.

I already carried a bunch of crap on my belt, so adding a gun wasn't too big of a deal. (Other than 'print-itis'. but that's a whole 'nother thread!)

On my belt is usually: Right hand Side: Gun (I or O WB), leatherman usually in front of gun.
Left hand side is my flashlight and cellphone, if the phone is not in the front left pocket, which lately it has been..)

Speed loader in front left pocket, CRKT M16 clipped inside front right pocket. When I carry an auto my reload will usually be on the belt's left side, near the flashlight, IF I have a mag pouch for it, otherwise, left front or rear pocket.

I like when I can wear a jacket! Then, most everything is in the jacket, with only gun and leatherman on the belt.
Summer is proving challenging already. Hard enough to keep the gun hidden. Carrying all the other stuff is proving burdensome. Might be time to check out a Royal Robbins vest or something...

And I still need to get a real gun belt!! My current belt is quite strained doing the job now.

I dont bother concealing the knife, it just gets clipped to the pocket. I only carry the flashlight at night, and that goes in a jacket packet. As for the gun, its usually on the compact side (bersa .380 or SP-101) carried at about 4-5 o'clock. I dont carry a spare magazine for the Bersa (*horrors!!!*), and if its the revolver i carry a speedstrip in my right-hand pants pocket. I cant seem to carry all the ubeer-tactical gear on a belt. Im sure its possible, but i honestly cant see that its worth the effort.

My Bat Belt

Wallet left back pocket, Keys on left hip belt loop, spare mag behind keys, knife left front pocket, 1911 strong side (right) behind my hip (OWB), flashlight behind pistol when needed.

Yep. I tried all this...for a while...until my already screwed up back finally gave up. No more IWB (or even OWB) for me. I just utilize all my pockets and pack light.

-S&W 642 in a Sparks pocket holster
-Speed strip reload
-Keys
-Wallet
-Benchmade Mel Pardue auto folder
-Cell phone
-Sometimes a Surefire E1e

I also have a Maxpedition Fatboy that is usually left in the car with other essentials in it (digital camera, digital Handycam, Surefire 6P, Leatherman, checkbook, notebook, reading glasses, first aid kit, Ranger compass (mostly for the mirror), medicine, lighter, pens, nail clippers, small measuring tape, PDA, spare 123 & AA batteries, and a small Swiss Army knife).
